Hi Megan,

If you are asking about using data/results from the public cBioPortal (cbioportal.org), no IRB approval should be required. You can cite our two papers listed on our front page, and/or any papers of the studies that you based your analysis on.

Best,
-JJ

Dear cBioPortal Executive Team,

I am currently a student researcher at the University of Virginia, and I was wondering if it would be possible to use the cBioPortal data without having to go through IRB approval. If so, do I simply cite the research group from which I obtained the data in my abstract/publication?

Thank you for answering my question.

Sincerely,
Megan
