OnkoKB data

Hi all

 

I was wondering if anyone knows what will happen to the data in cBioportal that is pulled from OnkoKB, now that OnkoKb is becoming a payment site? Will the data from OnkoKb still be updated in cBioportal?

And can anyone explain to me how the OnkoKb data technically is integrated into cBioportal?

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for reaching out. The public cBioPortal at cbioportal.org will always show all OncoKB data - we are not planning any changes here. If you have a local cBioPortal instance and want to add OncoKB annotations, you will need to license to get that information. All OncoKB data is retrieved from the OncoKB API when a query is made. 

And to clarify, there hasn't really been a change at OncoKB. OncoKB annotations were always free for academic research use but required a license for hospital or commercial use. I encourage you to reach out to the OncoKB team and explain your exact use case.
