GSoC 2026 Introduction – UI/UX Contributor Interested in cBioPortal

Hi everyone! I’m Surabhi Rai, currently pursuing a Master’s in Microbiology, with a background in Biotechnology and a strong interest in UI/UX design.

I’m excited to apply for GSoC 2026 and contribute to cBioPortal. With my combined background in life sciences and design, I aim to improve usability for researchers working with complex cancer genomics data.

I’ve started exploring cBioPortal and am particularly interested in the “Study View Charts Menu Redesign” and “User Profile Page” projects. I’m currently analyzing the existing interface and identifying areas for improvement from a user experience perspective.
