Thanks to all who were able to attend the very successful second Canadian Business History Workshop, hosted by Matthias Kipping at Schulich School of Business (York University) on April 5th.
The workshop confirmed the success of the inaugural event held at Wilfrid Laurier (Brantford) last fall, and featured stimulating commentary from Mira Wilkins and Eleanor Westney on the character of Canadian multinationals, as well as a vibrant discussion on Patricia McLaren and Albert Mills' paper on the necessity of a distinct Canadian management theory.
The workshops will continue next year, and we invite interested scholars to mark the date of our fall meeting at the University of Guelph on Friday, November 15th, 2013. We already have one paper on the agenda but are looking for one other work-in-progress for discussion. If you have a paper you would like to bring to the group, please contact Andrew Ross (jar...@uoguelph.ca).
Further details will be forthcoming in September.
For those interested in future events and news about Canadian business history, please join the Canadian Business History Group / Groupe d'historiens des affaires canadiens, accessible at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/cbh-hac.
Regards,
Andrew Ross
