Council seems to be doing it again, especially in Tennyson Ward where its major enemy, Councillor Johnston, is fighting for residents (extraordinary behaviour for a politician!).

The proposed bikeway from Brisbane Markets, Oxley Creek Common to Corinda, is designed to help fulfil the promise to build so many km of bikeway rather than to create more usable bike routes. The alternative, sensible, route is far simpler except for some footings for the bridge.

A darker possibility is that Council is keeping open options to route buses from Oxley Rd to its new bus depot down the residential streets east of the Tennyson railway line – the intersection of Oxley Rd and Martindale St is currently being upgraded with a slip lane and extra lane. If this happens, Kennard St for bikes becomes less attractive.

This website has documentation of the issue. Community opposition is rising, with a number of environmental groups concerned about messing with Nosworthy Park unnecessarily.
