Just spotted this online (via Twitter): the NSW state government provides
secure bike lockers around its public transport network:

https://appln.transport.nsw.gov.au/bikelockers/faces/jsp/public/home.xhtml

These sound similar to the ones at QR Citytrain stations in Brisbane, but
more widespread. They mention 1200 lockers at 140 locations, and not just
at train stations. Does anybody here have any idea how many QR has?

Do I recall correctly that Translink is looking to install secure bike
parking (well, cages) at bus stations too? Are they individual or shared
(like the BCC one at the West End CityCat stop)?

One other difference in NSW is that they charge $50/qtr or $180/year for
the spot, whereas the QR ones just have a $50 deposit. (Any idea about
Translink's plans in this regard?)

Also, the reason I spotted this is that Google were plugging the
government's use of Google Maps (including Street View) to show where the
lockers are and how many are available at any given location:

All very nice. I wonder if BCC will do something similar for their bike
hire scheme stations.

Cheers,

Ian
