Mahalaya Venue

Hi All,

Hope you all are doing fine and enjoying your summers both in India as well as UK.

Just to give a quick update on the Mahalaya venue, hence the mail. We had viewed a venue rightly suited for our Mahalya event. It's in Selsdon Library stop reachable both by public as well as private transport very quickly.

Key features:

1. Capacity - 160 to 180

2. Official launch date of the hall - 1st September

3. Newly refurbished interiors including flooring, walls, etc. (we will be one of the first to avail the facilities within this public hall) 

4. Stage size similar as Old Palace with proper green-rooms

5. Equipped with high-end Sound & Light gears (microphones, spot lights, etc)

6. Attached well equipped kitchen (a separate room itself)  

7. 50 Free Parking

8 Attached common bar & cafeteria for individual  usage

Cost - £30 per hour inclusive Sound & Light  (the best part - Total Cost of £120 for 4 hours)

This mail is to come to a a common consensus among all our working group members before we finalize the hall. This has to happen latest by Thursday of Friday this week.

If anybody has any concerns or clarifications regarding the tentative hall selection please feel free to post your concerns at the earliest so that we can discuss them in this common forum. 

Request all to give suggestions on how in the future we can use this hall more frequently -  like for our Working Committee meetings, dress rehearsals, etc. Will look forward for all your responses. If by end of this week we don't hear any concerns or clarifications it will be assumed that in principle members have agreed to this venue and we will make the final confirmation.

Thanks for summarising the information.

As per our last chat, you mentioned that the in-charge of the venue wanted the dates of our future events to give us a better deal. What is the final negotiation on that?

The price as quoted at £30 is the negotiated price only. The original price which Paul quoted was £35. We can't expect lower than £30.

Guys,

Few points should be considered....

What would be the cost of Old Place school hall(Saraswati puja venue)  for this event? This time possibly we don't need that much of lighting, stage rehearsal...so as Jeff's time...so must be much cheaper than Sarswati Puja.

Reasons are... 

1) People will remember this as same venue as Saraswati Puja....big advantage...(e.g. we remember Durga puja by their Venue/Location...not by their Organizers name)

2) Risk of renovation project delay in this new Venue...which can create issue for us at later stage. If the difference of Hall Rent is not very much.....is it worth of taking this risk and inform public on last minute venue changes? 

Can we at least find out the rate of Old Place school hall for this event and then take a conscious decision? 

Kanishka, Do you wanna approach Jeff? Suggest to take Prantik along with you as Jeff knows him "very well" :-).
