Hi Apex Team,

On behalf of all snooker enthusiasts, thank you for approving the new champion-size snooker table for the CB Society.

Installation of New Table Proposal: Based on the vendor's technical assessment, and overall players’ feedback, we propose installing the new table in the Viewing Gallery area of the CB Club as the preferred location.,

Below given are the related FAQs rationalising the proposal. <Requesting APEX TEAM's alignment>

Q1. Can the existing table be shifted to the Carrom Room, allowing the new championship-size table to be installed in the current Snooker Room?

Answer: Not feasible / not recommended.

The technical dimension-based assessment suggests retaining the existing table in its current location. The current table dimension (L-10 ft × W-5 ft) more of recreational/ academics play, requires optimal play area of L-22 ft x W-16 ft Vs. current play area L-21 ft x W-14 ft  which is already short by L-1 ft, and W-2 ft norms and is getting adjusted in the play.

By comparison, the new Championship-size table (12 ft × 6 ft) requires additional  larger playing norms of professional/club play and cannot be optimally accommodated in the existing Snooker Room.

Accordingly, we propose retaining the existing table in its current location. We will also request the vendor to undertake any feasible minor repairs at no additional cost.

Q2. Can both the new and existing snooker tables be accommodated in the Carrom Room by shifting the carrom and board games in the current snooker room?

Answer: No.

Based on the vendor's technical assessment, the Carrom Room can comfortably accommodate only 1 snooker table (East-West Direction, aligned to door opening areas), however 2 tables cant be accommodated North-South direction due to the central column and related space constraints.

While the room may meet the width requirement for 1 table , i.e. the new table (Champion-size table on East-West direction), but the overall length requirement (approximately L23.8 vs 22 ft ask including playing clearance) cannot be achieved without structural modifications to the entrance area (door opening/ access to door would create disturbance while playing as it ask for a pause of the game)

Therefore, accommodating both snooker tables in the Carrom Room is not considered feasible.

Q3. Even if the length constraints are ignored and minor playing adjustments are made by players, can the new Championship-size table be installed in the Carrom Room while retaining the existing carrom and board game facilities?

Answer: No.

Installing the new table would significantly reduce the utility of the Carrom Room/ Board games. The current facility accommodates 4 carrom boards, whereas only up to 2 carrom boards could be retained. The existing board game table, seating arrangements and circulation space would also be impacted.

Further, frequent movement of users accessing carrom, board games along with snooker players would create disruption to everyone’s play, making the shared usage impractical for all activities.

We also do not recommend relocating existing games, as the space may be required/ retained for future recreational facilities such as a pool table or foosball table.

Q4. What is the recommended location for the new Championship-size table?

Answer: The Viewing Gallery area of the CB Club.

Based on the joint assessment conducted by the vendor and snooker enthusiasts, the Viewing Gallery is the most feasible and practical option available. It meets the table and playing-area requirements (L-22 ft x W-16) while preserving the utility of existing recreational facilities.

While this location has certain constraints, e.q. Ceiling height (6 ft vs ideal 10 ft) and continuous air-conditioning requirements, but it still remains the most suitable option among the alternatives evaluated.

Happy to learn of any other alternatives that the Apex Committee suggests. Thank you,

On behalf of Snooker Enthusiasts
