Hi all-

As the Carrie Busey PTA Board we want families to know that we are aware of all the redistributing proposals by Champaign Schools BOE. We are also aware that there has been a lot of organizing by the community to oppose the changes in their current form. As a board we feel that it is our job to provide information on opportunities for parents, teachers and community members to be involved. Because we cannot poll all families at the school we are aware that, regardless of our personal feelings, we may have parents who have differing opinions on the matter. Thus we have chosen to provide information about opportunities for families to get involved in the discussion. You are welcome to reach out to us via email at pta.car...@gmail.com with any questions or concerns. We will do our best to assist with giving information with what we’re aware of.

IMPORTANT: In an attempt to gather more information from Carrie Busey families and staff via additional meetings, polls, etc. we have been instructed that Carrie Busey Administration would like for us to focus our time and attention on attending the in-person forums planned by Cooperative Strategies. This is what the board plans to do in addition to anything we choose to participate in personally.

*Please note that the information provided below is just that, information. As a board we have our own thoughts on this situation, but want parents to be able to form their own opinions based on what is best for their families. This is a compiled list of information sent out by Carrie Busey, Unit 4 and community organizers. We are certain this is not a complete list as there has been significant conversation and planning since the board meeting, but we’re hoping this is a starting point for those looking to join the conversation.
