We received the message below from Cornell club activities. If you are affiliated with Cornell (student, faculty, staff, etc.) please make sure you have completed the waiver on Campus Groups for Cayuga Windsurfing club. Many of the people with uncompleted waivers joined in previous years and haven't returned, and they will likely have to be removed from the club list on campus groups, but make sure if you are still active that your waiver is completed so we don't end up removing you in error.

Thanks,
Austin

At this moment, not all your club members have their waivers complete; please share the below instructions with all club members.

✅All club members (new and returning) will have to sign a club waiver. The waiver is automated through CampusGroups. Please follow the below steps to access the waiver.

  1. Log into CampusGroups - https://cornell.campusgroups.com/click?linkid=0ea1ce2f-6a50-4eb2-8f12-b9594fcea334
  2. Using the top black menu bar, click on the “Groups” icon
  3. Click on the blue button that says “All Groups.”
  4. Type the group name into the search box
  5. Check the box to the left of the group, and the waiver will appear
    1. Review the waiver and click the “Join” button at the bottom of the screen
      1. You will still need to do this if you are a returning member or officer! Re-joining the group will not affect your current status within the group.
    1. If the box is red, you will not be able to join/re-join the group as the officers have the group settings to be a “closed group.”
      1. Please have one officer go into the group’s settings and change the membership from “closed” to “open.”

I have received a couple of replies, so I should perhaps add to my previous email.
This whole Campus Groups waiver thing is new for us, in the past we had just used the paper waivers that everyone (including non-Cornell members) still sign.

My previous comment about removing Cornell Affiliates from the Campus Groups list with unsigned waivers would not kick you out of the club itself but would be more in the case of us needing to appease the powers at be at Campus Activities (though for liability reasons Cornell affiliates technically shouldn't sail without having their waiver completed, hence if you are an active member, please complete the waiver).

On a similar note, Cornell affiliates will have their 'membership' end on Campus Groups on Dec 31. This does not really mean anything as far as the club is concerned. You will not be removed from the email list, and you are welcome and encouraged to (re)join the club in future years by paying your club dues. The shed will close up for the winter and mark the end of the sailing season before Dec 31 anyway.

Moving forward, we will need to be more stringent on making sure Cornell affiliates join the club on Campus Groups as well and complete the waiver there. This is important for us to keep operating as a club for liability reasons and to continue to receive funding through the university.
