Come to a free Community Conference the morning of Saturday, November 19in Ithaca.
Learn about water issues facing communities around Cayuga Lake.
Here are some of the questions our expert speakers will answer:
· What are the farming and ecological impacts of the drought? How can we prepare for future droughts?
· What is the status of Ithaca’s water supply following the drought?
· How harmful are drugs, caffeine, hormones and antibiotics to our drinking water?
· How good are our septic systems? How to improve them for better water health?
· Is hydrilla under control at the Ithaca end of the lake? What about the new outbreak off Aurora?
· What was that green goo growing on the rocks and docks in the lake this summer? How can I tell if algae is harmful or not?
Join our roster of experts in the comfortable surroundings of the Tompkins County Cooperative Extension Office from 9:30 am – 1 pm at 615 Willow Avenue, off Route 13 in downtown Ithaca.
These presentations inform the public about what we need to know for better protection of our water resources, for both human and ecosystem uses. Twice-yearly community conferences are provided by the Cayuga Lake Watershed Network, an organization dedicated to unifying people for effective protection of Cayuga Lake and its creeks, streams, waterfalls, and wetlands.
