Please help! I have been playing Red Dead 2 and I have gotten pretty far. I know that my autosave is on. I am NOT in the middle of a mission and I do NOT have a bounty on my head. The two cheats that I have found are turned off. I know that the game auto-saves, but I want to be able to manually save. but for some reason I keep getting a message with a lock next to it that says, currently unable to manually save. Does anybody know what I should do? I'm so confused.
I have tried that as well! Every time I go and try to save the game there is a lock symbol next to it and it won't even let me click on it to save it in a different spot. It's completely locked me out from saving and I have no idea what's going on.
same thing just happened , i lasted saved in the camp in chapter two right after i saved micah. i was well as writing this am pulling a long night of gaming , kept forggetin to save and i got to the point where you stop the train and have to run from the lawman ya know with the oil thing and stuff , this happened ( this as in it not saving) and i tried everything , killing myself , sleeping , only thing i didnt try was replayin a mission. my auto save wasnt off but it was like werid auto save didnt do anything for me it just auto saved right after i saved , i dont normally get mad at games but this really peeves me off (Dunno if you can curse on here i legit made this account just for this one thing) so like honestly somebody NEEDs to fix this i also play on xbox so i couldnt do any pc thing like mods or stuff -
I'm having a similar issue. I'm not locked out, but the game still wont let me manually save, and it's not auto saving either. I'm not currently in any active missions, havent used any cheats, and dont have any bounties, so I have no idea what's going on. The last time I exited the game I lost 2 perfect cougar pelts as well as my count of cougar kills for master hunter challenge 6, so now I'm back to one kill with a bow. Pissed! I'm afraid to exit again game and lose a ton more progress. Help!!
The thing is, that in the normal RDR2 all my settings are set up correctly.
If I run RedM, I got settings which I never set up and they wont save if I quit the game.
F.e everytime I relaunch the game, the ingame voicechat is set to on again.
My camera is moving in the wrong direction and also the automatic sprint is set to turn on aswell.
Also some graphic settings wont get saved either.
Need to take a break from Red Dead Redemption, or want to save before a tough fight? You can save in a variety of locations around the Red Dead Redemption world. While the game will save automatically after completing missions, saving manually allows you to advance time and create permanent save files to return to whenever you want. You can save at safe houses or using a campsite.
A save is a way of keeping files and the player's progression through the game. It is essential to progressing through the game faster. There are ways that a save file can be corrupt, whether the console is turned off while saving, reckless modifications and through glitches.
There are two types of save: manual and auto. Manual saving is a type of save where players need to save a file through campsite or safehouse. It can be made available when making a campsite, or sleeping in a bed in Safehouses.
Manual saves advance the in-game clock by six hours, similar to that in GTA games. Setting up a campsite and simply choosing 'Save' will advance the time by 6 hours. Saving a game isn't necessary to advance time (see next section).
There are several known glitches when saving the game at a safehouse. The first is that the player has killed all the Buffalo and has the trophy "Manifest Destiny". The player saved the game at the safehouse and after doing this turned off their PS3. When the player turned it back on and loaded up the game, they still had the trophy but their stats said they had not killed all the Buffalo.
Also also, the autosave is a big piece of crap as well.
I shit something up, and this game forces me to start over riding a f***** horse for half an hour, that i can watch in cinematic mode, but i must be at it 24/7 cause some wolfs might attack or the horse is tired in the snow; with the bounty i got for pointing my gun instead of saying hallo cause its got to be the same f**** bizton; and without the items i suffer for.
Jeesus this game is slow, boring and annoying. Nothing revolutionaty here, if you want a decent game install the witcher 3

This was the life I wanted for Arthur Morgan. A life of solitude that suited his sad demeanor. A life free of violence, save for the occasional bar fight that was inevitable, or defending himself from those who would mean him harm. It was time to set the wheels in motion.
It's always a tragic sight when someone loses a save file. It doesn't matter how it happens, it's a frustrating and upsetting moment. This is exactly what happened to one player who took to Reddit to vent their annoyance.
With no chance to get into those emails and save the account, the support ticket was closed and they have lost their game save. Of course, many Redditors were quick to point out that they shouldn't have used a work email for a video game, while others suggested opening a new support ticket in the hopes they get a more helpful member of staff. Regardless, this was sadly avoidable had they used a personal email address instead.
However you lose a save, it's crushing. I still feel rubbish whenever I remember my PlayStation memory card corrupting and losing a 60-hour Final Fantasy 7 save file. As the kids say, 'can I get some Fs in the chat'
Red Dead Redemption 2 uses an automatic saving system. For the most part, when you complete story chapters and missions the game will save. It will also save when you visit the camp or when you progress through certain checkpoints in the game. If you want to save manually you can do so by visiting the options menu done by pressing the pause button.
Other ways to manually save are by visiting your bedroom at camp or your home base. Sleeping will restore your health, stamina and Dead Eye cores and bars and it will save your progress. Other ways to sleep include renting hotel rooms or setting up a mobile camp in the wilderness.
