Whipple superchargers feature a twin-screw design that forces a large amount of air efficiently through the intake of your car's engine. That air is cooled and compressed, allowing the engine to produce more power. The induction system is powered by the engine's crankshaft, so power is always available, unlike a turbo system, which needs to "spool" up before delivering a boost.

Both Whipple superchargers and Prochargers are twin-screw designs. However, Whipple's positive displacement system generates more power (especially at lower RPMs) than does the centrifugal system used by Procharger.

The amount of horsepower you'll gain from a Whipple supercharger depends on your engine and other factors, but using a 5.0-liter Mustang as an example, you can expect as much as 300 extra horsepower when you add a Whipple supercharger.
