Weve already told you plenty of times before. Despite the almost endless amount of videos we can watch on YouTube and similar portals, there are still people willing to download videos from the Internet to be able to enjoy them without a connection. That's why there are dozens of video or youtube downloaders, as is the case of aTube Catcher for Windows or TubeMate for Android. And to this group of programs, we also have to add the possibility to download iLivid for PC, short for Internet Live Video Download Manager.

Well, just like the two above-mentioned programs or others of the likes of KeepVid or xVideoServiceThief, this is yet another video download manager to download audiovisual contents from YouTube and other similar sites, with the advantage of incorporating its own built-in multimedia player and loads of customization options. These are some of its most noteworthy features and functions:

Using the application is as simple as pasting the links of the videos in the text field enabled for such purpose and hitting the Download button. In just a few seconds, depending on the speed of your connection, you'll have your favorite videos saved on your PC.

Despite the popularity it reached a few years ago, we're sorry to say that iLivid no longer exists as such. You might find its iLividSetup installation file lying around some hidden corner of the Internet, but if you try to launch it won't be able to access the program's former servers to download the files required. Its developers have decided to put a full stop to a project that gained a bad reputation due to the alleged malware or viruses it contained.

We can't talk exactly about malware, but when we installed the program, several toolbars for our browser also installed. On the one hand, they slowed down our browsing experience and the access to web pages, and on the other, according to several computer security firms, they gathered personal information that could later end up in the wrong hands. Therefore, it became a software that was not at all recommendable or desirable.

So, the question how to download iLivid? might not be the most appropriate because, as we've already said, it doesn't work any longer. In fact, if you've still got this video download manager on your PC, whether a Windows 10 or a previous version of Microsoft's operating system, the best question you can ask yourself is how to remove or uninstall this program?.

Here there's no possible discussion. When this program worked, and leaving out the toolbar factor, we could still argue about the advantages and disadvantages of using one application or the other, which are really quite different: whilst the former offers us the possibility to download videos straight from our favorite Internet sites (YouTube, Dailymotion or Metacafe) and direct download sites of the likes of RapidShare, Hotfile or FileServe, the latter provides us with download by means of the P2P protocol, not only of videos, movies and series, but almost any file. But nowadays, with the shutting down of this software, it's quite clear that the application based on the torrent network is the winner.

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that ilivid is a PUP bundle installer. These so-called "bundles" install various types of potentially unwanted programs on your computer, usually including toolbars, hijackers and adware.

As you can see below the full version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware would have protected you against the ilivid bundle. It would have warned you before the bundler could install the potentially unwanted programs, giving you a chance to stop it before it became too late.

I consider iLivid malware - it takes over websites and automatically downloads unless you kill the browser window. It seems to like sites where you're expecting a download and exploits your expectation that you're getting the download you want rather than iLivid.

You will see iLivid as a device. If you try to drag it to trash it will tell you it's in use. Go to the toolbar at the top of your desktop and you probably have an iLivid symbol. Click on it and choose exit.

You still can't drag the iLivid "device" icon to trash because it will still tell you it's in use by TLC (has an orange traffic cone symbol). You may see the little orange cone in your dock area, so you turn it off. The cone vanishes but you still can't trash iLivid.

Inside the main Application folder you will *not* see either iLivid nor TLC icons. You *will* see a sub-folder called 'applications' with a weird symbol in front of the 'A' in applications. If you click on that SUB-folder it will simply mirror the contents of your main Application folder endlessly. That's where the malware is hiding.

Kill that "applications" sub-folder inside your main Applications folder. Just drag it to trash. My main Applications folder in Finder was not affected by this move. I still have all my real and wanted Applications.

The icon for this program on my Macbook is located on my desktop, Its not in my toolbar, it may have been at some point, at the top of my downloads but it has been long since buried (didn't notice it until I tried to free up some space and wouldn't let me delete).

If I right-click there is no "exit" available, only "open" and "eject" meaning it was never actually opened. I'm afraid of what happens if I click the "eject" option. It has never been officially opened, by me- so does that mean its just waiting to be installed? This is probably the dumbest question in the world but I'm pretty much tech illiterate so bare with me here.

I went into finder and looked for the sub folder, and couldn't find one in applications. The icon itself for applications under places, is two pencils spelling an 'A' is that the legitimate icon? or the one your talking about? I honestly can't remember (again, bare with me). I went through all the applications in it piece by piece but there is no sub folder of any kind. Also went into macintosh HD and looked through the applications folder (that looks like a folder) there and it is the same. If this is the decoy, where can I find my actual applications? how do I know what is what? because there is a pretty good chance I'm going to delete all my applications.

ilivid is shown as its own entity under 'devices' just below Macintosh HD. I right clicked that, but got the same options as my desktop button again. Next to its icon there is this ever present "eject" symbol, that never disappears like it wants you to try that. What would happen if I dragged that icon out of my devices and into the trash? would that solve the problem? (Am I right thinking that it was downloaded, but its contents were never officially installed? I still can't delete the thing)

If you haven't opened the icon on your desktop, drag it to trash and then empty trash, but since you have an "eject" option it may be that it launched itself. In any case, start by dragging to trash then tell us what happened.

Alright, tried dragging the icon from the desktop to the trash and as soon as I started to drag it down, the the trash bin turns into an 'eject' button itself, (standard line with an arrow facing upward). You see that stupid symbol pretty much everywhere this thing accompanies- like they really want you to press that.

I moved to my finder, and tried to drag the program from devices- that didn't turn my trash into an eject button this time, but once dropped, it goes right back to its spot below my HD drive. The trashbin didn't even animate when I hovered over it, like its immune to deletion.

Okay, I just got rid of this annoying ilivid programm. Just so you don't freak out, it's nothing dangerous. Anyway, what you need to do is go to Finder>MacintoshHD>Library>Internet Plugins, delete the beast and empty the trash ? Good luck!

Although I've never actually gotten my hands on a copy of this adware, due to it being primarily distributed through piracy sites and the accompanying unwillingness of people to share what they've been up to on those sites, iLivid seems to be related to the DownLite adware.
