Thecentre takes in many animals who have been rescued from cruelty and neglect but sadly also animals who have simply been abandoned. In 2015 we rehomed 148 dogs, 362 cats, 69 rabbits and 154 other animals. That's 733 animals in a year
If you have room in your home and in your heart to take on a rescue animal, please take a look at the list below. If you can't find the pet you're looking for now, check back regularly to see if your perfect match has become available or visit Find a pet to view other animals in the RSPCA's care across England and Wales.
Our centre is always full, but sometimes there may only be a few animals available for adoption. This is because the other animals are still subject to criminal prosecution and waiting for their cases to be heard in court, or undergoing rehabilitation. Some of these animals may be available for fostering
This is different to adopting. We are always looking for special people to help us with some of our long term case dogs who we are unable to rehome until the case has gone to court. We look for people who could offer a temporary home to these dogs as this is much better than being in a kennel environment. We cannot express how much this helps these dogs. They can be provided with a more natural and enriched life while they wait for the court date. While these dogs are with their fosterer, we pay for all their food and any medical treatment. All you need to be able to provide is your time and patience to help these dogs settle into normal life. Please contact the centre if you think this may be an option you would like to do and we would be more than happy to discuss it further. Thank you
Blended with electrolytes, lemon balm, and prickly pear extract, Tru Rescue Seltzer is a caffeine free sparkling water. Often enjoyed as an hydration detox drink, Tru offers electrolytees in a naturally flavored sparkling juice.
Unlike most best selling detox drinks, Tru Rescue Seltzer is a carbonated water made with real blackberry fruit juice and natural flavors. This fruit flavored sparkling water always delivers a light refreshing blackberry taste.

I've tried a lot of power drinks and seltzers, including many of Tru's, and this is my favorite! I love the taste, tangy with just the right sweetness, you can definitely taste the blackberries. I haven't tested whether I could "drink before boozing to do something (anything) tomorrow.", but I wouldn't doubt that it works!! Thanks TRU
I enjoy the bold flavor ooth the Tru Rescue. As an older individual, I like knowing that the ingredients are safe for me and that I can drink it without worrying about negative reactions. I will continue to purchase this product.
I am a big fan of sparkling water, and I was excited to try Tru's Rescue Drink. This product is naturally flavored with blackberry, which gives it a light and crisp taste. I was pleased to see that it also has zero sugar and only 10 calories. The first thing I noticed when I cracked open a can was the great blackberry aroma. The taste is also very refreshing and delicious, with a nice balance of blackberry sweetness and crispness. The added electrolytes make it a great option for me after a workout or during a hot day.I also love that the can is sleek and eye-catching, and it's an easy way to carry around and have it as an alternative to other drinks.Overall, I highly recommend Tru's Rescue Drink to anyone looking for a tasty and healthy sparkling water option. The blackberry flavor is delicious, and the zero sugar and electrolytes make it a smart choice for staying hydrated.
BlackBerry Patch is a not for profit organisation with an open door policy to all unwanted Guinea Pigs. The rescue also helps with guinea pigs that have special needs ranging from poor health to behavioural problems. These are nursed back to health and when fit are then put up to be re-homed.
Blackberry Patch runs from donations from the re-homing of Guinea Pigs, through fund raising, support from local veterinary practises and the selling of indoor and outdoor hutches that have been donated onto us.
When you adopt a Guinea pig from us they leave the rescue with ears cleaned, nails clipped and fur treated for potential parasites and mites. We supply a bag of food so you can mix with your own choice of Guinea pig food. There is also a booklet supplied with guidelines on proper care.
Directions:
-In medium saucepan combine water and sugar over medium heat. Dissolve sugar in water to create a simple syrup.
-Juice lemons and combine with raspberries and lemon zest in blender, food processor or I used my nutribullet.
-Whisk blackberry mixture into lemon juice and zest.
-Pour mixture in 913 dish and freeze for 2 hours. Every 30 minutes scrape through with a fork. You want to separate the ice crystals as the mixture freezes.
Notes: Both recipes were created without having to use an icecream maker. Granita can be made raw omit Xanthan gum. Also, a critique is the raspberry lemonade was super sweet so I added another container of raspberries to try and cut down the sweetness.
Also, kids (well mine at least) are not a huge fan of seeds so you can strain both before adding to the container for freezing. This time around I kept the seeds in.
Those streets are carefully monitored by one woman who will likely never stop scrolling social media feeds to save kittens. Carmen Morales Weinberg, founder of Animal Friends Project, Inc in Delray Beach. She came upon a Facebook post late on the evening of August 25th and her heart dropped.
Ideally, the mother was startled hearing humans and ran off. She may have taken a kitten or kittens with her as well already, separating the family. Many times she will return and move the remaining kittens when the coast is clear.
The feral mom was outside. People on Facebook kept telling the homeowners to just put the kittens outside so the mom could come and get them and take care of them. It was very late, around 11 pm. When I saw the photo of the kitten with the injured foot, I told them to not put that kitten outside. That I would go and get him because he needed urgent medical attention.
I got there around 1:30pm and saw that they were feeding kittens cows milk! I explained that kittens needed mom or to be fed KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer). The kitten with the injured leg was struggling and I needed to take him to the vet.
Luckily, after Carmen informed them about their nutritional requirements, the couple agreed it was best to alter the plan. The injured kitten was definitely going to require medical attention and would go with the rescue.
As for the others, they needed to be back with mom ideally and then the entire family could be addressed. Knowing this may take time, Carmen fed the babies their formula before attempting anything. Newborns are required to eat every 2-3 hours!
Thankfully, as soon as they placed the first two kittens on their porch, mama returned for her offspring. They were then also able to see where her nest was that hid the family. Carmen took the other kitten with her and rushed to the veterinarian.
She gave kitten a Convenia shot and showed me how to care for her injured foot. She said there was a small chance kitten would make it, but that she was willing to try if I would care for it. I agreed. She asked me to check on the other kittens if possible to see if any other had any injuries.
So Carmen returned to the house only to find that the homeowners still had 2 of the kittens with them inside. There was nothing visibly wrong with the two, but she returned to the vet with them just to be sure.
She said one had an infection on his umbilical cord. She also treated him and told me to care for them. By then, the mom had moved the other kittens so I ended up with the three siblings. I named the other two Apple and Blackberry. I treated Blackberry for the infection and he seems well now.
Every day is precious and every minute is detrimental to their survival. With the love that they are getting from Carmen and her supportive followers of the rescue, they are sure to find the perfect home. She will continue to follow up with the owners to attempt to find the rest of the family. Ideally, they are reunited and ALL find homes off the streets. At the very least, she vows to have their feral mama fixed!
The reason is simple. Blackberry bushes produce food. We've been told of the lean times our parents went through. We were told to clean our plates. So what if each year our blackberry patches expand a little? That's a few more quarts of berries next year. That's good, right? What if the economy fails? We can eat more blackberries.
Fifteen years ago (or more) I put in a blackberry patch. One row of plants. I put black plastic at the edges of the patch, and some bark chips on that to keep it from expanding. It was surrounded by lawn. But any self-respecting blackberry bush can push up new shoots through plastic, wood chips or not. Piece of cake. And mowing? Well, those thorny canes leaned out, keeping me away. Every year the row widened. And widened. This year it got to be 10 feet wide and I recently declared war.
We couldn't get into the middle of the patch without the Rescue Squad waiting to give us transfusions. But now I'm getting it under control. Here's how I'm winning the war. I dedicate half an hour EVERY day (unless raining) to working on the patch. I put on a canvas jacket, heavy jeans, and don heavy leather work gloves, the kind you use for moving firewood or cement blocks. I put on a baseball cap to protect my eyes, face and balding pate.
