FXs new series, Snowfall, focuses on the crack cocaine epidemic that arose during the 1980s, specifically in Los Angeles. The first season premieres on Wednesday, July 5 and many may be wondering how many episodes is Snowfall exactly? Let's just say, it'll be over before you know it.

The first season is 10 one-hour long episodes. The show, which was co-created by Boyz n the Hood writer and director John Singleton, follows four main characters who are directly connected to the epidemic. There's protagonist Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), who gets into dealing crack in order to make money for himself and those he cares about. Then there's Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a Mexican wrestler caught up in a power struggle within a crime family.

Luica Villanueva (Emily Rios) is also connected to crime as the daughter of a Mexican crime lord who imports and sells marijuana, though for Luisa, she's ready to forge her own path and plans on using cocaine to do so. Finally, there's Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative who's running from a dark past and begins an off-the-books operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras.

Though these characters are all fictional, it's important to note that this show is based off of real events that took place during the crack epidemic, which led to major social and economic changes in Los Angeles and other large cities across the U.S.

The crack epidemic resulted in the tough-on-crime policy that led to those who possessed crack cocaine (mainly African-Americans) being sentenced more harshly than those who possessed powder cocaine (mainly whites and Hispanics). This way of sentencing wasn't ended until the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 was passed by Congress. It's clear this aspect will be portrayed through Franklin, Luisa, and Gustavo.

While the show is mainly about the epidemic, some reviewers believe it's about much more than that. Collider noted that the show looks at the entrepreneurship many minorities took up during the Ronald Reagan years and how capitalism and the government had an impact on the spread of drug addiction. The Los Angels Times said the show is really all about "community" and the impact the epidemic took on cities like Los Angeles.

Viewers of Black Snow Season 1 are wondering how many episodes are in the series and when each new episode comes out. Black Snow is an Australian crime drama series that focuses on detective James Cormack as he investigates the 25-year-old cold-case murder of a 17-year-old girl named Isabela Baker, whose murder in 1995 shocked the small town of Ashford.

All episodes of Black Snow Season 1 are currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. There are no new episodes as Black Snow has not officially been renewed for a second season.

The show, which is executive produced by Michael B Jordan, has already got a second season in the can, with Courtney B Vance telling RadioTimes.com in an exclusive interview: \"Last year we shot for nine months on 16 episodes. And where we go in the second season is just so rich. You know, could it go any further?\"

The cast includes a whole host of famous faces, including Courtney B Vance (The Hunt for Red October, Lovecraft Country) as Moses' lawyer Franklin Roberts, Tosin Cole (Doctor Who) as Moses Johnson and Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard) as Franklin's wife Martha.

In his interview with RadioTimes.com Vance said of his usually level headed-character: \"I love him for all his imperfections. There are times when, because he's human, he loses his cool as well.\"

Season 5 of Snowfall is back and looks as promising as ever. Now that Franklin is off the cane, it's time to see if he will go back to his killer ways. Here are 13 questions I have going forward following the two 1-hour-long episodes premiere.

Skully is such an entertaining character who last season completely went away from his roots after his daughter passed. But after Manboy and Khadija were killed by Jerome last season, I think we see a Skully appearance this season, maybe at Jerome and Louie's Wedding.

Bringing up new characters again, we are introduced to a Black cop who raids a Black family and is in the desire to appease his white counterparts. This cop's energy is not normal. Then he proceeds to ask Louie to snitch on someone in order for him to continue to help her. Going forward, I wonder if Louie and Jerome are going to be in situations to crack and have to fold under the pressure of snitching.

The final scene of Season 4 shows Franklin going to a church in Odessa, Texas (Shoutout Texas! Howdy!) to find Melody and let her know that Irene was dead. Before this scene, we have to remember Mel is the person who shot Franklin and caused him to be on a cane. So does she come back with a better plan to get revenge for her daddy or call it a quits?

The mystery of Lucia is the longest-running question on this list, since she's been gone, and it's apparent Gustavo is waiting on the right time to find her. Is this the season where he finally looks for his girl?

Avi, as this series has gone on, has been questionable on whose side he is really on in this war. Is this the season Avi flips on someone or reveals that he is also working for the CIA or another higher power? Time will tell.

Comparing the number of blizzards over the years within the Red River Valley of the North (eastern North Dakota, northwest and west-central Minnesota) can be tricky. However, this webpage will attempt to compare winter seasons with the most blizzards in our period of record, as well as other notable aspects when comparing seasons. Refer to the tabs below to explore!

In summation, we have had 11 impactful clipper systems this season, of which 6 have been blizzard episodes. In other words, 6 of our 12 blizzards this season have come from Alberta Clippers. Considering we typically average around 12 impactful clipper events per season, we are on track to be near average (if the pattern ceases to bring additional impactful clipper systems over the region). However, we typically average around 5 impactful clipper events during the months of January and February, so the persistence of this pattern during January-February months is very unusual.

Since the 2021-2022 winter season is outpacing the infamous 1996-1997 winter season in terms of number of blizzards, it is understandable to compare the two seasons and its implications on potential spring snowmelt flood. However there are key differences between the two seasons: types of blizzards and snow amount.

Using this research to define "types" of systems that usually produce blizzards for our region, we can break down blizzards into four categories: Colorado Lows, Hybrids, Alberta Clippers, and Arctic Cold Fronts. Each type typically carry with them different levels of impacts, durations, and snow amounts.

The 2022-2023 winter was a banner ski season for Colorado. The snowpack trended above normal from December through April and close to record territory in March thanks to cold temperatures and consistent storms.

As we look ahead to the 2023-2024 winter season, it's important to remember that any winter outlook will contain an inherent degree of uncertainty. However, there are a few clues that we can keep an eye on thanks to everyone's favorite weather phenomenon: El Nio.

The map below shows winter snowfall during seven significant El Nio episodes across the United States. The higher the number, the stronger the El Nio. The blue dots are above average, the white dots are average, and the orange dots are below average snowfall.

After looking back at the seven most recent significant El Nio years and comparing them against the 30-year median snow water equivalent (SWE) on March 31 of 42.0 inches at the Tower SNOTEL station near Steamboat, I've found that the median SWE near Steamboat during those El Nio years is 39.6 inches on March 31 or 95% compared to the 30-year normal.

After looking back at the seven most recent significant El Nio years and comparing them against the 30-year median snow water equivalent (SWE) on March 31 of 18.2 inches at the Berthoud Summit SNOTEL station near Winter Park, I've found that the median SWE near Winter Park during those El Nio years is 20.5 inches on March 31 or 113% compared to the 30-year normal.

After looking back at the seven most recent significant El Nio years and comparing them against the 30-year median snow water equivalent (SWE) on March 31 of 14.6 inches at the Copper Mountain SNOTEL station, I've found that the median SWE at Copper during those El Nio years is 13.7 inches on March 31 or 94% compared to the 30-year normal.

After looking back at the seven most recent significant El Nio years and comparing them against the 30-year median snow water equivalent (SWE) on March 31 of 18.8 inches at the Vail Mountain SNOTEL station, I've found that the median SWE at Vail during those El Nio years is 19.4 inches on March 31 or 103% compared to the 30-year normal.
