Subject: COVID-19 Panel: Vaccine Confidence in Black, Brown and Under-represented Communities
To:
Dear Community Colleague:
We wanted to share with you that Spectrum Health is hosting a free online community conversation about COVID-19 vaccines and addressing confidence in Black, Brown and under-represented communities. We invite you to join this virtual forum, and to please share this invitation with as many people as you feel can be helpful in our common effort to inform communities, protect people and save lives.
Now that the State of Michigan has opened up vaccinations to the public, many people are rightfully asking questions about the safety, effectiveness and side-effects of the vaccine. Because COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted Black, Latino-Hispanic and under-served populations, we want to be your partner in ensuring the communities who are dying and hospitalized at higher rates get care and protection fairly and equitably.
The free online discussion will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, from 11 a.m. to noon. View them on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Panelists include:
MODERATOR:
Dr. Lisa Lowery, MD, Adolescent Medicine Specialist, Spectrum Health
PANELISTS:
Dr. Talawnda Bragg, MD, Internal Medicine Hospitalist & Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency, Spectrum Health
Dr. Lynn Todman, Vice President of Health Equity, Spectrum Health Lakeland
Maurice Burton, Retired Michigan State Police Trooper, Benton Harbor
Pastor Jaime Cervantes, Benton Heights Campus Pastor at First Church
Rev. Howard C. Earle Jr., D. Min., Senior Pastor, New Hope Baptist Church, Grand Rapids
As part of our commitment to addressing inequities and injustices in health and health care, our panelists hope to share information and facts about the vaccines in hopes that, together, we can share information so that all can make an informed decision about getting vaccinated.
We look forward to you joining our event on Friday at 11 a.m. and encourage you to share any thoughts and ideas you have about how we can better serve our community.
Thank you.
