Dear Bulat,
Today we held our Big NEB Update Zoom with an introduction by our chair, Professor Mike Berners-Lee, and a range of exciting announcements about what’s next. Over 5,000 people registered – an extraordinary response for a Friday lunchtime!
Our apologies to those who couldn't join after we hit our attendee limit. We did attempt to set up a livestream for those who couldn’t access the meeting, but frustratingly, we hit a technical snag which we will work to resolve for next time.

Our new schools initiative is live! Working with Coombe Dean School in Plymouth, we ran a hugely successful pilot using the People’s Emergency Briefing film and are finalising a dedicated resource pack for 16–18 year olds ahead of the new school year in September. Click the image below to watch the launch video.

Our aim is to help young people understand that they have a real voice in local and national politics, and to give them confidence to play an active role in shaping the future. Please share the video with teachers, sixth forms, colleges and anyone working with 16–18 year olds.
We have a preview prospectus for schools here – please sign up on the last slide to receive the full lesson programme when it’s released in August.
Helping the film reach new audiences
We also announced new resources to help hosts reach new audiences. These include:
We’re already seeing councils and businesses using the People’s Emergency Briefing to understand the risks they face in terms of service delivery, business continuity and community resilience.
Our new resource packs have everything you need to make your screenings a success. They include template business letters to MPs, a template motion councils can use to support our call for a televised emergency briefing, and guidance on hosting screenings for local community groups.
If you’re interested in The Climate Psychology Alliance’s workplace training sessions for hosts and facilitators, more details are here.
Whether you’re a host or supporter, you’ve been on the front line of promoting screenings for months. We want to hear what you learnt from the experience, what worked, what didn’t, and anything that could help us get more people through the door. Please fill out our survey – nine quick questions, and you can skip any that don’t apply to you.
MP support
With the extreme weather of 2026 now impossible to ignore, we are seeing more MPs realising that the public needs to be properly informed about the risks from climate and nature breakdown. A total of 137 MPs have now called for a televised emergency briefing – with the seven above joining in just the last week!
Has your MP joined the Parliamentary Call? Enter your postcode in the link below to find out.
Thanks to the many thousands of volunteers hosting screenings and speaking with MPs, friends, family and colleagues, we believe a societal tipping point is within reach – one that can unlock the bold action needed to tackle the climate and nature crisis while also improving lives.
If you’ve found this newsletter useful, please forward it to family, friends and colleagues.
Every new screening starts with someone hearing about the film. And if this email has inspired you to host a screening in your workplace, council or community, please register here.
Once again, thank you for all your support,
Simon and Nick, and the rest of the NEB team
