Anastassia Makarieva is known, among other things, for the concept of the "biotic pump," how forests create the rain that makes them (and us) live. Here, she speaks about the planetary hydrological cycle in an informal seminar she gave in Florence on November 22nd, 2025. A fantastic talk from one of the best-known scientists in the field of ecosystem studies. This is the first of a series of video that I plan to have of informal presentations of scientists at my home. I am sorry if this one is a little rough, next time we'll have a better screen.
