The Weazel wishes he could make it, but TAG beckons. You may wish to consider an activity featured at the recent 75th anniversary OTR in WestbyGawdVirginia which featured 1645 registrants. “Maggot racing” is a new and novel form of self degradation that was highly entertaining. The victim/participant’s arms are immobilized inside a black plastic bag then wrapped in duct tape. The “race course” is a sheet of wet visqueen and mud with various impediments. The victim/participant immediately falls down on the slick plastic then must wriggle past the impediments to the finish line which is a mud puddle. Have fun!

Cavers Reunion! Wow, we are almost a half-century old! We hope that you and your friends and families can join us this year at Cam Sol Mayer in Menard County, just a few miles from the second-longest cave in the state! There will be cave trips just before (and maybe during) the Reunion, along with all of the normal festivities and shenanigans. There will be both TSA and TCMA Members Meetings, The Saturday evening feast with event prizes and door prizes, the Friday night Wine and Snack Tasting event, Climbing contests, Survey contest, Mud wrestling, the Caver Flea Market, a remembrance of our departed caver friends, and returning by popular demand, The Gauntlet! You can also swim or float in the San Saba River, which flows across the southern border of the property. Or visit historic Fort McKavett, built near major karst springs. Or browse Vendors Row, to purchase those important books on Texas and Mexico caves, T-shirts, stickers, and more, all while supporting local speleology. The dates are 22-25 October, so make sure you highlight this on your calendar. We'll see you there!!!
