I’m forwarding the message below for the International Union of Speleology’s Cave Biology Commission. Feel free to forward it to other lists. You don’t need to be a biologist to complete the short survey, and feedback from non-biologists is most welcome.

Subject: Support Cave Biology Research: Survey on Charismatic Species in Subterranean Ecosystems

Dear UIS Cave Biology Commission Members,

The UIS Cave Biology Commission (CBC) is pleased to support a research study aimed at understanding the perception of charismatic species within subterranean ecosystems. This project seeks to explore how biological traits influence public and scientific interest in cave-dwelling organisms and how this, in turn, impacts conservation funding and policy for high-integrity karst systems.

We invite you to participate in this important research by completing a brief survey. Your insights as biospeleologists, ecologists, and conservation professionals are invaluable to developing data-driven strategies for the protection of subterranean ecosystems.

Survey Details:

We also encourage you to share the survey link within your professional research networks to help broaden the scope of this study.

Thank you for contributing to this effort to advance conservation science for subterranean biodiversity. Your participation helps ensure that critical karst ecosystems receive the attention and protection they deserve.

For any questions or further information, please feel free to reach out Luisa Dainelli, Alejandro Martínez, Stefano Mammola.

Best regards,

The Executive Group

UIS Cave Biology Commission (CBC)
