Join us Wednesday November 12 for the monthly general meeting to socialize with like-minded Austin neighbors and hear a talk on:

A History of Energy in Mexico: from Cornfields to Solar Farm given by longtime Austin Sierra Club member Philip Russell, speaking on the topic of his latest book.

Philip's initial exposure to Mexico was as a cave explorer while at the University of Texas at Austin. He then spent several months hitchhiking around Mexico and walking to indigenous villages lacking roads. Since then he has written eight books on Latin America, six of which concern Mexico. His latest book is the title of tonight's program. Philip's writings on Mexico have appeared in publications ranging from Mexico City’s La Jornada to the New York Times. He has led tours to Latin America for the Sierra Club, Witness for Peace, Bikes not Bombs, and the Austin Cycling Association. Russell served eight years on the Austin Sierra Cub ExComm.

Where? El Mercado South at 1302 South 1st St, Austin. There is a spacious parking lot across the street. Bus #10 runs along S. 1st.

When? Wednesday November 12. Arrive as early as 6pm for Tex-Mex food and drinks (available for purchase). Program starts at 7pm.

Please RSVP HERE so that we have an idea of attendance!

Hope to see you there!
