Caveatron Software version 2.10 is now available on the Github site. This is a significant new release with several new features associated with surveying and file handling. Two new IMU modules are now supported as well.
WARNING! This version implements a new arrangement for storing files in the SD card, so you will need to start a new survey after loading it and your current survey will not be readable by the Caveatron. Nothing on the card is edited, so you can still download your files the normal way. The formats of the survey files themselves remain the same - they are just stored in a new location with a new .dat file for each survey that provides survey info for the Caveatron, replacing the old setting.txt file.
New Features:
- All files for a survey are now stored together in a folder with the full cave name and date, making it easier to locate surveys and keep things organized. This folder can be dragged and dropped to your PC when copying data.
- Any survey stored on the Caveatron can be re-opened to continue the survey or view/edit its data. (This only applies to surveys created starting with 2.10).
- Information and notes can be added to the survey and to each shot. When setting up a new survey, a page now appears allowing general survey info to be entered such as the names of the survey team members. This can be edited or added later from within the survey statistics page. Notes for each shot can be entered from within the View/Edit Shots page and can be edited later as well. This can be useful to note interesting features present at that location or tie-ins to previous surveys. These notes are stored in the .srv file and can be viewed in Walls Cave Mapping software when post-processing data.
- Shots can now be edited through a new contextual menu on the View/Edit Shots page. Tapping a shot bring up this menu where you can change station names, change front-sights to back-sights and vice-versa, delete a shot, or add/edit a shot note.
- A new QWERTY-like keypad has been created for the note entry screens.
New Hardware Support
- The Pololu MinIMU-9 v5 and the AltIMU-10 v5 are now supported.
Bug Fixes
- Multiple files and folders can now be copied between the Caveatron and SD card without introducing corrupted extra characters at the end of the file.
- Improved error checking has been added when opening survey files.
The Caveatron_Setup software has been updated to v1.3 to support the new IMU hardware. The Caveatron_Parameter_Uploader and Downloader utilities have been updated to v1.2 to read/write the current survey name & date which are now stored in EEPROM.
The Caveatron User Guide on the
caveatron.com website has been updated for version 1.10.
