Hi All,

Im a relatively new owner of a Cav 28. I have been working to get the boat back up to speed.

I have a question regarding the bilge. There appears to be multiple sections to the bilge. My boat doesn't have a an automatic bilge pump and currently requires pumping out by hand. This take the bilge from the most aft section.

I'm wondering what others have done as a setup. I was going to install the new automatic pump in the most aft section too but wonder what people do about the other sections

Many Thanks

Daniel

There is little activity on this board which is a shame because there must stil be a fair few Cav 28s still sailing around. There always seems to be one or two listed online for sale.

I have a Rule 500 gallon per hour bilge pump and float switch installed in the most aft section of the bilge. The bilge is very shallow, so it won't take a huge amount of water to flood all the separate sections of the bilge and if the boat is healing while the bilge is flooded then the water will flood the cabin sole. I know this because until I replaced the windows just recently, my Cav 28 was getting a lot of rainwater leaking into the cabin!

Remember to place the float switch a little higher (further aft) of the bilge pump so that it will be submerged when the float switch turns it on.
