I've been playing Tekken for a long time. Now NOT INCLUDING REAL PEOPLE (I'm not here to brag about being the bests or anything), I hardly ever lose against the computer and I certainly never lost to a perfect. I think my lowest ratio on Dark Resurrection was like 93-94% for wins. But not only did it take an HOUR to beat Azazel with Panda, and not only did I switch it to easy after about a half hour, but he was STILL getting perfects on me (stay tuned for more on that in just a minute). Now I had already beat him a few times before (not without an unreasonable amount of time and bull) but this last time was just the most egregious abuse I have ever experienced in a game.
......and then the spamming of attacks that could keep you locked down, but thats standard boss affair so I cant really complain about that. Like I said before, I had already beat him with a few character and when it was all said and done I did about 45-50 matches with Panda in that hour so its not like I didnt know what I was doing during the "blocking" or "teleporting" matches.
I realize that those 3 things sound pretty much likes lies and whining because I need to "learn2play" and honestly I cant say I would believe it if I read it from someone else....but what is the internet for if I cant angrily type a post about something that happened to me where people will either ignore it or get illogically upset about it? Exactly. (oh, I just assumed you agreed with me right there...you know, because I cant actually hear you or anything).
So my theory is either Azazel was either made as a serious contender for taking the title of "Worlds Biggest Douche Boss" from Seth (great, now no one will believe anything I said in here) or he isnt working as intended and has a few bugs that need to be worked out. Either way....SIXTY-TWO MINUTES, WTF?!
I completed Arena mode with all 38 character in little under 2 hours. The only characters that I had trouble with against Azarel were Yoshimitsu and Eddy. On these fights I had to take around 8 attempts to beat Azarel.
However I do know what you mean, it does seem to spam a lot of unblockable moves and there were times where I would throw everything I had at Azarel and it would just stand there blocking about 15 moves in a row before wiping the floor with me! And I hate spammers online and did not expect it from the actual AI, but hey... nevermind.
With Alisa it took me two tries, and the second one was perfect. Fox, Lili, Hwoarang, and Xiaoya weren't TOO bad either. Julia and Panda however took forever.....the two characters I use the most and have been using since they came out (I cant remeber if they came out in Tag or 3...).
It just doesnt make sense that on some of my best characters I couldnt beat him on easy outside of the fact that Azazel is just deciding when and if you can attack him (which I honestly believe he does).
Azazel on the other hand is a big revolting neon blocking machine, like a Vegas casino sign come alive to terrorize humanity ala Maximum Overdrive. I weep inside everytime I see his King Tut head dress, he reminds me of some repulsively stupid Time Life statue that takes 12 easy installments of $29.95 to permanently blight your mantlepiece.
I beat him every time by firstly setting the game to one round a match and second, spamming every character's one-two combos (X, X or X, Y most commonly). He might be big and mean and resoundingly cheap but he is also slow and stupider than a sack of asscheeks. If he's blocking the one-two's, hit him with a quick low kick. Even if he blocks THAT, it'll irritate him into attempting to hit you at which point you can head back to the one-twos and punish him before he can connect.
Thats how most of my wins came about as well. I fought him so many times with Panda that it got to the point where I was donkey-kicking him out of the air when he would teleport kick (minus the aforementioned rounds where he would literally teleport-kick out of a teleport-kick), hence my frustration when every time I beat him in a round, he would win the 3rd and final with a perfect. It just seems unlikely that I could beat him so many times and still not be able to finish him off for the win. I honestly believe that he either cheats or is broken.
Yeah, definitely go with Ultrafiend on this. One-two combos work wonders. Obviously, this'll be easier with characters that have longer, more powerful one-two's like Bruce and Bryan, but for the most part, the general idea is great.
Yoshi I can understand. Eddy though:confused: Comon' man. Eddy is one of the easiest and fastest to use. Really. Just spam the hell out of his spinning back fist. So easy. I beat it on the first try with him.
The whole idea here is to make it a challenge. Yeas, it seems impossible on some rounds. That's by design. I like it. At first it pissed me off. Then I calmed down and just thought, I'll play the rounds until it gives e an opening. Then. It will be done lol.
....and that was my original complaint. The game decides when you get to win. You dont triumph because you learn from repeated battles with the boss, you win because he randomly (or not so randomly perhaps) decides you may proceed.
Fighting game bosses are tough, yes. They always have giant moves that hit for half your health bar and they take time to learn. I dont have a problem with that and I never had so much trouble with one that I had to spend a whole day complaining about it (heck, I'm almost sick of me by now) but......
I really think that in a fighting game, boss characters should be similar to the rest and not have freakin god mode on. i just got done trying to beat azazel in arcade n gave up hitting twenty minutes. beat him first try no prob with asuka in Scenario but i was going on 15 losses in arcade? WTF.
I was also really disapointed when I found out the final boss was a fucking cheap-ass dragon. I didn't mind Jinpachi too much, but this guy is a real ass. It wasn't fun and it was just a hassle, thank god I'm done with everything in this game so I don't have to deal with azazel again.
Guard low on his tail(I don't think you can parry that) and guard high on the rest of his attacks. Sidestep his crystal attack. The stones/mini bats is a mid(from my experience) so block high on that. Another thing is when you knock him down he teleports and tries to stomp you. This is a high attack so do a standing guard and then rush him and hit him. For some reason he isn't blocking until a certain point after he teleports(probably due to recovery time)
Some moves cant eb sidestepped like his tail whip for example. But most of his moves are directional in the vertical axis, his tail flip, crystal-from-floor and teleport-dive moves can all by avoided by a simple side step.
Wow, I never thought of setting it to one round! Can you do that in arena too or just arcade? That would be the best since I can totally beat him in the 1st round, just not that accursed third round! SWEET!
I hear ya buddy, I have plenty for Namco to suck on after this title. Thank god for gamefly, I would have been PISSED if I had plopped down full price for this. Just sent it back and I will only buy it from a bargain bin for 20 bucks or less if I ever do. However, I think this on psp would be fun, might have to buy that when it comes out but honestly Tekken DR is just fine plus it has Tekken bowl.
