I tried a brand new machine/install with LoginHook from wiki and now on login I get 'Core storage must be disabled, if you just reverted, please reboot'
if I hit ok (the only option) it thinks for a bit and then restarts.

Thanks!

I found this, http://awesometoast.com/yosemite-core-storage-and-partition-woes/
and was able to run through the tutorial and it got rid of the error but I really don't want to have to do this manually on all computers.

Is there a simpler way to do it or a way to keep from having to do it?

Chris,

I've asked our Mac team to look at this thread and chime in with any ideas.

Personally, I don't know of a way to enable FileVault2 atop an existing CoreStorage volume -- I haven't tried since OS X 10.7 / Lion -- but I suppose it must be possible if that's how they're shipping now.

In our environment, the Yosemite image does not init with corestorage volumes.  Are you starting with a vanilla OS X base, or some imaged/cloned base?  Might you be able to start you imagine with such a configuration?

One other note... I think I've seen CoreStorage enabled by default previously (even before Yosemite), on an iMac running Fusion Drive.  Is that the case with your machine, by chance?

Fusion Drives are CoreStorage volumes.

Many (most?) machines Apple ships today have CoreStorage enabled out-of-the-box as well, as it allows Apple’s Setup Assistant to enable FileVault without requiring a reboot.

I’ve adjusted my FileVaulr setup tools to account for this; it should be straightforward to do something similar with CV.

(and yes, fdesetup can enable FileVault on an unencrypted CoreStorage volume)

Perhaps we can just remove the CoreStorage-disabled requirement validation here?  https://github.com/google/cauliflowervest/blob/master/src/cauliflowervest/client/mac/glue.py#L184

Perhaps that was only valid when we used csfde (10.7).  Given devices are shipping with CS enabled by default now, and fdesetup can enabled FV2 on such volumes, this seems unnecessary.
