Key Fights and Key Votes
Finally. The Senate passed the Reconciliation 2.0 bill that ends the Democrats’ months-long blockade on immigration enforcement and border security funding.
It ultimately passed on a party line vote following an 18-hour vote-a-rama where Democrats attempted to sneak in blatant amnesty provisions. But fear not—Heritage Action was watching and promptly issued a late-night Key Vote against the amendment. It failed, but several Republicans betrayed their mandate and voted for it.
Was your senator one of them?
After final passage, the bill was then sent to the House, which is expected to bring it up early this coming week.
Congress needs to get moving. Every day that isn’t spent fighting for important conservative priorities like the SAVE America Act, a ban on any Central Bank Digital Currency, and a third reconciliation bill increases the risk of leaving valuable wins on the table. Reconciliation 3.0 should include eliminating waste from government programs, combating fraud, and ensuring accountability.
>> Take Action: Remind Congress that there is still work to be done!
To be clear, the House skipping town a day early isn’t going to throw too much of a wrench into the ICE and CBP funding plans. They were sent to Washington with a mandate, and whether they pass the bill on a fly-out day or a fly-in day is moot.
Besides, it’s not like they’re actively passing bills that undermine the Trump administration’s goals when they are in D.C.
…Right?
