Welcome to 2011! Cats Corner looks forward to a fantastic new year of
great bands, classes, fun dance parties and, of course, making lots of
new friends. Join us this Wednesday as we kick things off!

JANUARY LINDY HOP & SWING DANCE CLASSES

A new month-long session of Lindy Hop classes with Nathan & Christine
starts this week! Classes are filling up quick, so sign up soon to
save your spot:

6:30pm Beginning Lindy Hop (5 leader & 5 follower spots remain)
7:30pm Intermediate Lindy Hop (3 leader spot remain, sold out for
followers)

Can't make it for the month? Just starting out?

Our 8:30pm Beginning Swing Class ($10) welcomes you to drop-in weekly,
or whenever you can. We start from scratch each week and cover the
basics plus fun and goofy steps to get you dancing quickly, as well as
meet a ton of new people!

BAND THIS WEEK: Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen
Getit!

Truly one of the most sensational bands to hit our stage, the Rhumba
Bums deliver 30's, '40s & '50s-style swing, vintage jazz,
jumpin' R & B, blues, and original tunes featuring Steve Lucky on
piano & vocals, and Miss Carmen Getit on guitar. The band has been a
familiar force in the SF Bay Area swing scene as well as
internationally, and we're excited to give them their debut
performance this week on our cozy stage.

DJ THIS WEEK: Roy Rydbeck

Roy Rydbeck mans our DJ booth this week. After spending several years
dancing and DJing in Tampa & Chicago, Roy returned to San Francisco,
where he started dancing. He frequently DJs at the 9:20 Special, Rent
Party & Friday Night Blues, and has been featured at many national
dance events. He likes to mix a variety of swinging music styles, and
with a predisposition toward groove, swinging blues, Big Band, and
pre-45 small jazz combo's.

NEWS FROM CATRINE

I had the extreme pleasure of speaking with Catrine via Skype video
chat from St. Martin just this morning! She is doing well and in good
spirits, despite a small string of unfortunate happenings that
included a dog bite, and a minor fender bender. In more positive news,
she's teaching dance classes three nights a week, and recently
performed a tap dance routine with Santa Claus and got her picture in
the local newspaper! She's looking forward to her annual trip to
Argentina to teach at the LHAIF Swing Dance & Tango dance festival in
Buenos Aires. Cat's daughter Bianca also looked well, and like many
children her age, seems to enjoy running around the house with no
clothes on. She enjoys playing at the beach with her friend Estra (?)
and she also introduced me to her stuffed dog, Bella :)
