Dear Cats Corner Friends,

MUSIC THIS WEEK

Since 1991, band leader and bassist Harley White Jr. has been a
prominent figure on the Sacramento music scene in a wide array of
roles from pop recording artist with Papa's Culture, as a creative
force with Blackalicious, Original Heads and Dr. Echo, as an award
winning bassist, as a member of Latin Jazz ensembles The Habanero Trio
and Frijoles Negroes, and as an impresario presenting the WhiteNoise
festival.

Now, with the Harley White Jr. Orchestra, White returns to his musical
roots as the son of prominent Oakland/Bay Area bassist, Harley White
Sr. The HWJO is the culmination of 3+ years of rehearsing and
recording sessions. These sessions have produced a core group of
musicians with a fresh, swinging, soulful, and always stylish take on
jazz standards, heavily influenced by the orchestrations of the swing
era greats, most notably Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Check them

IN THE DJ BOOTH

Naomi Perez joins us as our DJ, and this week, we officially upgrade
her status from "up-and-coming" talent to a regular staple at Cats
Corner. We missed her last month when she had to call in sick, so
we're extra excited to have her back this week DJing during the band
break and after party, while you sip cocktails at the bar with friends
or dance up a storm!

HAPPY HOUR DISCOUNT

Every now and then, we like to remind you that we offer a great Happy
Hour discount on dance party admission when you arrive by 9pm before
the band starts...$5 dance-only admission (normally $10). It's a great
way to save if you're on a budget, keep a little extra cash around to
buy drinks, and it helps ensure we've already got a jumpin' party
going by the time the band starts playing!

BEGINNERS AND ALL AGES WELCOME

Join us at 8:30pm for our infamous drop-in swing dance lesson...no
partner required and beginners are welcome! Christine and I start from
scratch each week, teaching the basics of partner dancing plus fun,
easy and hilariously vintage dance moves to get you moving and
grooving quickly!

$10 cost *includes* dance party admission!
