Hi Catrobat Team,

My name is SRAVANI GURRAM. I am interested in applying for the SeaSee'r: Underwater Mapping and Exploration project for GSoC 2026.

My background:

  • Python, Machine Learning, Deep Learning
  • Full Stack and Backend development
  • Git/GitHub

I have reviewed the project description and the entry task (Three.js panorama viewer). I have already started setting up my development environment and repository.

I have a few questions:

  1. Are the three panorama images provided by the team, or should I use publicly available equirectangular images for the entry task?
  2. Is there a preferred web framework (React/Vue/Svelte) for the viewer?
  3. Is there anything specific you want to see prioritized in the entry task submission?

Thank you for your time. I look forward to contributing!

Best regards, Sravani Gurram

Dear Sravani,

Thank you for your interest. Your background seems like a good fit for us!

Regarding your questions:
1. We initially intended to provide our internal images, but you can use publicly available images for now, e.g., Wikipedia Commons
2. There is no preferred framework; whichever framework you choose and feel comfortable working in is best!
3. We do not have specific guidelines, but would love to see creative approaches to navigate between the panoramas! E.g., hovering with the mouse reveals 'paths' to other panoramas ;)

Best of luck!

Cheers,
Benedikt

Dear Benedikt and Catrobat Team,

I wanted to let you know that I have submitted my GSoC 2026 proposal for the SeaSee'r: Underwater Mapping and Exploration using Spatially Anchored Panoramas project.

Here are all the required artifacts:

• Repository: https://github.com/Gurram-sravani/seaseer-panorama-viewer
• CI Run (green):  ci: add GitHub Actions workflow with tests and screenshot artifacts · Gurram-sravani/seaseer-panorama-viewer@34184f9
• Demo Video: https://youtu.be/mMnH75W-V0Y
• AI Review Artifact: Attached picture below

As you suggested in your earlier reply, I implemented the hover paths feature — glowing ring markers appear using Three.js raycasting when the user hovers near the navigation zone, indicating paths to neighboring panoramas.

All three E2E tests pass with Puppeteer and Vitest, GitHub Actions CI is green, and screenshots are saved as artifacts on every run.

I would be very grateful for any feedback on my proposal or entry task before the March 31 deadline. Thank you again for your encouraging response and for your time.

Best regards,
Sravani Gurram

Dear Sravani,

Thanks a lot. Please make sure to include all the links and explanations also in the application pdf, and please base it on a copy of our Google docs template file as linked from our ideas page.

For other applicants: Please do not post your application details here. Instead, please only submit them via the Google application and the pdf based on the Google docs file.

For Sravani: No problem you posted it here, but I want to avoid being inundated on the mailing list by proposal data. Thank you for your understanding.

All the best,
Wolfgang
