Friends,
As you have been aware, Dr. Yongjie
Wang (王勇杰), 52, a Physicist
of the National High
Magnetic Field Laboratory of Tallahassee, Florida,
passed away from cardiac arrest
on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 4:15 PM, in Tallahassee Memorial
Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19th,
2009, at 3:00 PM EST, in the Bevis Funeral Home (Ph: (850) 385-2193;
Address: 2710 N. Monroe Street,
Tallahassee, FL 32303). The Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM (遗体告别).
A reception will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a
special account set up for Yongjie’s 12-year-old daughter, Stacy Wang, in

Dr.
Yongjie Wang was born on January 16, 1957 in Hefei, Anhui Province, China, the
third of the four sons of the late Hongji Wang and Yunqin Wu, where he grew up
until 1977 when he was admitted to Beijing University. He received his bachelor
of science and master's degrees in Physics in 1982 and 1986 respectively from
Beijing University, and Ph.D in Physics in 1993 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In the same year, Dr. Wang joined the National High Magnetic Field
Laboratory of Tallahassee, FL. Dr. Wang was an expert in high-field infrared
spectroscopy and used that technique for his own research and for collaborations
with visiting scientists from all over the world. Besides his career he loved
and achieved so much for life, Dr. Wang was a true sports fan and enjoyed travel
and outdoor activities. He had a large circle of friends in Tallahassee as well
as in the State.
Dr. Yongjie Wang is survived by his beloved wife,
Xiaowei Wang, two daughers, Wanda (Andrew Kuo) and Stacey, three brothers,
Junjie, Xianjie of China, and Mengjie of Columbus, Ohio, three nephews and a
niece.
Our
hearts go out to Xiaowei, Stacy, Wanda and the family. We know they are truly
hurting now but they did have an amazing and wonderful soul in their lives who
loved each of them dearly. He is forever missed by his family, friends and the
Community.
