This works fine for my KDL-55W805B, you might have to change the URL path to /sony/IRCC instead of /sony/ircc in the rest_command as my older model seems to use /sony/IRCC where as the documentation from sony suggests /sony/ircc.

Which will return an overview of all possible endpoints, then you can just crawl through every endpoint by sending the "method":"getMethodTypes","params":[""],"id":1,"version":"1.0" payload I mentioned before. With that you can map the complete API of your TV and use rest sensors and rest commands to control everything.

I have tried a ton of stuff. If the PSK is incorrect the HTTP response is a 403. For testing, the ircc code is hardcoded and I have tested it with another REST client. TBH I am out of ideas. I might have to step through the rest_command and see what the response is along with the 500 status code.

On my KDL-55W805B, the error response is 500 if the wrong PSK is sent.
But if you say the same data works in Postman your best bet is to turn on debug logging to see what has been sent to your TV.
Or you could use an interceptor to send the request to so you can see what home assistant is sending to your TVs API with something like this

For the PSK, you need to setup in the TV settings. I show how to find it in my TV, but yours might be different menu system. Its a four digit number, and you can try 0000 and see if that works, I think its the default.

Note: Within the Device on the SmartThings IDE the Device Network ID for Device instance must be hex of IP address and port in the form of 00000000:0000 (i.e. 10.0.1.220:80 is 0A0001DC:0050) - if you check the logs the smart device will log the correct address that you can copy paste, once the IP address has been set. If this is not set you wont get updated on/off status. Apparently you can get the Device handler to set it but ive not been able to properly test this yet.

Im wondering now also if the remote codes will work with CEC and if so i may be able to combine more remote codes from other devices such as surround sound amps and blueray players into the remote i have sony versions of both those things so i should be able to test it although mine are quite a bit older than this tv is

Can anybody help please? Using my Z5 Premium I can hit the cast icon when in the Youtube app and it sends it to the (Sony Bravia) TV no trouble at all, but when I'm using anything else on the phone and try to cast by swiping down from the top of the screen to hit the cast button it says 'no devices available'. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a feature in the YouTube application that I think is what is triggered here. If both your TV and your phone is connected to the same network the YouTube app in your TV will detect that a video is being played on your phone (or tablet) and will allow you to cast that video to your TV.

Thanks for the reply. This may sound a bit thick, but by Chromecast are you referring to a separate dongle that plugs into the TV? If so, I haven't got one, I assumed from the fact that Youtube works that the TV must have it built in, but am I wrong?

Hi my phone "sony experia zx used to cast no problem to my Sony Kd, 9005 55" but for some reason the only way I can now cast you tube is by connecting with TV code where as it will cast everything else no problem. They are on same WiFi network and used to work but no longer do any help would be greatly received.
