On Thursday, September 26th, Eric was admitted to begin his stem cell transplant! During his last harvest they collected 3 times the cells that were necessary. And now we are beginning the end of the process.
They have advised that the first week will be relatively easy. The second week could be more difficult. He gets chemo everyday, but only for an hour or two. It is a harsher chemo to wipe out his system. On October 2, Eric is scheduled to have his own stem cells reintroduced back into his body. It will probably take about an hour, and then we will wait and watch for his stem cells to regenerate over the next weeks.
The transplant floor has a special air filtration system, he has a private room and bathroom. The doors are kept closed, but he is encouraged to walk around the floor to stay active. 41 laps of the floor is 1 mile. Right now he is just bored.
So I invite you to participate in CRACK-UP CANCER.....The goal is for Eric to receive 100 pieces of mail while he is in the hospital for 3 to 4 weeks to keep him laughing and entertained (his sisters got him a coloring book). please consider sending him a postcard, note, whatever you think will make him laugh (he loves the minions from Discipicable Me).
Don't worry if you don't really know him, just let him know how you heard about him. If you are fortunate enough to know Eric and his sense of humor --- tell him a story you remember about him. Let's make him laugh while he is cured of his cancer.

Please help me provide laughter as the final medicine Eric will need to get through the transplant.
It will also show to many people the tangible way we can reach out and comfort, encourage and show our support to others that we come into contact with.
WE appreciate your concern, support and love though this process, thank you for helping me "Crack Up Eric" while he goes through this final part.
