Subject: Obama to deliver huge blow to pro-lifers?

From the Desk of:

Brian Connor

Grassfire Program Director

Dear Laurence N.,

Yesterday, I informed team members about the British news media reporting that "thousands of aborted and miscarried babies were incinerated as clinical waste, with some even used to heat hospitals." (Click here to read my previous email.)

I also promised to provide more information about the plan by Obama's Justice Department to argue before the Supreme Court today (Tuesday, March 25) that "killing an embryo seeking to implant in his or her mother's womb is not an abortion."

In an article posted Sunday night, CNSNews·com's editor-in-chief Terrance P. Jeffrey exposes Department of Justice efforts to force Hobby Lobby (and countless other American businesses) to pay for employees' abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization and contraception under ObamaCare. Jeffrey reports:

"The U.S. Justice Department is telling the Supreme Court that killing a human embryo by preventing the embryo from implanting in his or her mother’s uterus is not an 'abortion' and, thus, drugs that kill embryos this way are not 'abortion-inducing' drugs. ... The crux of the administration’s argument in this case is that when Christians form a corporation they give up the right to freely exercise their religion ... in the way they run their business."

This is not only a clear-cut infringement on the Hobby Lobby owners' free exercise of religion; it's also a blatant attempt by the Obama administration's to re-define a long-held medical standard to support its far-Left political ideology.

In his article, Jeffrey points to a host of sources, including the U.S. government’s own 1997 National Bioethics Advisory Commission on Cloning Human Beings, that recognize fertilization "as the beginning of a new human life.” If Obama's Justice Department is successful in re-defining an embryo's "status," it will deal a huge blow to the conservative and pro-life movements.

+ + Reasonable, Humane Abortion Restriction Stalled In Senate Committee

Today's Supreme Court arguments are set against the backdrop of a recent -- and rare -- victory for pro-life Americans. Back in June, the House passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which was then introduced in the Senate by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in November.

But since then, S. 1670 has been stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Why? Because the bill would prevent abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which the medical community agrees is when a preborn baby can feel pain.

You've signed the "Demand A Vote For Life" petition in an effort to push the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to the Senate floor for a full vote. But now, you can take additional action to demand that EVERY Senator on the judiciary committee meet millions of Americans who oppose abortion "halfway."

Click here to send a personalized message to the entire Senate Judiciary Committee calling for a vote on S. 1670 by the entire "Upper Chamber."

+ + Tell Senators To Meet Pro-Lifers "Halfway"

A typical pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks, S. 1670 would reasonably and humanely restrict abortions for only half that time. Gallup reports that 72 percent of Americans favor some kind of restriction on abortion, so there's absolutely no reason to advance this important pro-life bill to the Senate floor for a full up-or-down vote.

Fax every member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and demand they push the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to the floor for a full vote.

Tell the Senate Judiciary Committee that the American people deserve to know which of our elected leaders would and would not allow for this reasonable and humane restriction on abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy and beyond.

+ + Share The "Demand A Vote For Life" Petition

Once the "Demand A Vote For Life" petition reaches 50,000 signatures, Grassfire representatives will deliver it to key leaders on Capitol Hill, including the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. So please forward this email to your family and friends, urging them to take a stand for life.

Tell them to go here to sign the national "Demand A Vote For Life" petition and support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act:

You can also rally support for a full vote on S. 1670 by clicking here to share the "Demand A Vote For Life" petition on Facebook. Help grow this grassroots movement to protect the most innocent and defenseless among us.

Thank you for helping protect the preborn from the pain and suffering of abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The Grassfire Team

P.S. Send a personalized message to every member of the Senate Judiciary Committee demanding they meet pro-life Americans "halfway."
