Subject: URGENT: Gastonia, NC:Owner of 5-6 year old Female Poodle "Chanel" Asking for Help To Rehome Her; May Face Surgery Next Week
A woman named "Mary" contacted County offices today asking for help finding a loving home/rescue to help take her 5-6 year old female poodle "Chanel", who she says weighs about 10 lbs and is black in color.
Mary is in her 70's and on a fixed income and finds herself unable to care for Chanel like she was able to. Mary may be facing surgery next week and would like to try and rehome Chanel in the next few days.
I spoke with Mary for quite a while and she loves Chanel so much. She got her as a puppy and used to be able to get Chanel groomed and take her to the vet regularly, but has found herself unable financially unable to do what she knows and wants to be done for Chanel. She has been trying to groom Chanel herself with scissors and was upset about how bad a job she did. She never got Chanel spayed; she tried to breed her once, said it did not work, but says Chanel has never had puppies. She is also not current on any of her vaccinations. Chanel has been seen at a vets office in Cherryville, where Mary lives, in the past, so records of what she has had gone can be obtained...a vet she has seen in the past is named Dr. Browning is anyone is familiar with him.
Mary has many grandchildren and great grandchildren and says Chanel loves children and is very friendly.
I told Mary I would email for help tonight, and I also asked her to take the name and phone number of anyone who contacted her, so she could let me know who is interested so I can help her make sure she is dealing with a legitimate rescue/rescuer. Everyone I have copied on this email IS a wonderful rescue/rescuer, but I'm not sure where this email may go and I want to be able to tell Mary that I know or know of the person/rescue who is contacting her so she can have peace of mind Chanel will find a loving home.
It broke my heart to hear Mary talk about her love for Chanel, and how much she wishes she could care for her properly. She loves her enough to let her go so she can have the care and life Mary thinks she deserves. She does not have internet so she was not able to send a picture.
If you are interested in trying to help Mary, please call 704-747-7325. Thank you.
