Melissa, since you have emailed all the FURR folks about this kitten & have gotten Cindy to pick it up, i think you need to tell them the entire story.

This kitten came from one of the colonies in Monroe along with a Siamese mama cat & 2 other kittens.  I am personally overloaded with feral cats from these colonies (Melissa has trapped around 30 cats) and i am the one that has to care for them, tame them, clean cages, take them on multiple trips to the vet and worry about them getting adopted out.

Meanwhile, the two shifts in my garage is taking me over 4 hours a day.

Another rescue group offered to help take a couple of the cats & a few kittens.  We were happy to have assistance and i am physically drained & FURR is out of $$$ because of these colonies.

One mama cat & litter of kittens was found to have been handed over to Neighborhood Feed Store & were being given away free.

NOW, all of those cats are in my garage for ME to care for.

Another litter & Mom (Siamese mom, 2 kittens that look like mom & one black kitten) went to a foster home.  I went over to the foster home TWICE just to help and had no problem with the mama or kittens.

I was later told that the litter was too feisty for the foster home & they were moved to another foster home.

Remember... I would NOT have taken these cats to another rescue group if we had room AND if they had not offered.

Next thing i hear is that the 2nd foster lady is dropping the black kitten off at MY vet's office for either ME to pick it up or, TWO for it to be euthanized!

Folks, FURR and i am at capacity.  If i dont start getting more help, i'm going to lose what i have now!

I called Melissa to handle & get the kitten if she wanted to save it.  I see that she got Cindy to do it.

Thanks Cindy, but what are you going to do with it now?  Melissa, are u out of the picture now?  I guess the other rescue group is!

Cindy, dont know if this kitty has had ANY vet work, de-flea or de-worming!!! Need to keep it in separate room from fosters & your kitties!

Terry,
Why can't you be happy this kitten is O.K? If sending out an email to the volunteers stopped this kitten from being put to sleep and Cindy got it, what is the issue?
You seemed to leave out that you hung up on the foster when she said she would take in 2 or 3 kittens if you would take this one.
You agreed to help these colonies, nobody made you.

And by the way, I don't just trap, as you have said.
I take them to the vet, along with other Furr cats. We donated $1000.00 for the colony plus spent thousands on food since I started feeding there twice a day since last November. I have vetted 3 and have been bringing food to a man at the apartments that feeds cats there, spending about $50.00 a month on the cats he is feeding.
I have been like an on call fire fighter for you for several months, running to the vet, to Petsmart, doing extra shifts, checking on cat situations, doing home visits, helping with fundraisers( I got you all the tables for  Pawbrokers), office work, etc..The moment I had to tell you no because I am neglecting other IMPORTANT things in my life or because I am now working and need to, suddenly I do nothing for Furr and use Furr.   You showed no concern for my safety when I told you how I have been warned multiple times by business owners as well as several police officers that I was in the worst place in Monroe for crime feeding these cats. I have had numerous men come up to me and one even run at me and I had to jump in my car to get away.  I know I made the choice to do this but all you could say was you hated it for the cats and you were worried about them. I know colonies are often in bad areas, but when you are surrounded by 4 police cars and they are all telling you that you should NEVER be there, even during the day, it is bad.

I thought we were all trying to help these kitties. But you have been attacking me in emails and I have remained silent. I, along with other VOLUNTEERS, do not need to explain why we are not at an event by the way. We have lives outside of Furr. For you or anyone else to point out who is not at an event is wrong.

I have kept silent all this time because I love the cats. But you constantly treat people like garbage. I know I am not the first and won't be the last person to say this. I understand you are in the cat rescue business. But without PEOPLE there would be no VOLUNTEERS, fosters, or PEOPLE that adopt and donate. It makes me vey sad, But I want no part of Furr. I can not associate myself with someone that treats people this way, lies and expects others to do so, and is all about credit and control. Sadly, because of YOU, Furr and the cats will suffer. You can say what you want about me but the people in Furr and elsewhere that know me know what I am like and know the truth. You just lost another volunteer. Not because I burned out on cat rescue work but because of YOU.

Just to be clear...I knew this little guy was one of the kittens from the mall colony and I knew I had handled him once before with no trouble.  I was not asked to take him, I was asked if I’d be willing to assess him because the foster thought he might have neurological problems.  I agreed because I did not believe it and felt the situation was being exaggerated.  I made the decision to take him because I could not let this 2 lb. kitten be destroyed because he hissed and scared someone 75 times his size.  That is what animal control does, not what rescue people do.  That, to me, would have been unconscionable.  This whole situation was ridiculous and I still find it hard to believe that all of these (fellow volunteers not included) supposed animal loving rescue people were going to let an innocent kitten be destroyed because of whatever drama happens to be going on at the moment.  That is very disturbing to me.  I’d sooner release him back where he was trapped than to let that happen.  I’m not trying to be rude, but the more I think about it the more upset I get.  I have given Melba 2 weeks to find a foster to take him.  Meanwhile, I will work with Alexander and try to help him.  I am willing to stretch it to 3 weeks if I think I need more time.  I will not, however, let anyone make me responsible for keeping him or for getting him adopted.  If anyone reading this can afford to chip in a few dollars so that I can get Alexander combo tested and vaccinated I’d appreciate it.

Thank you Huanita!  He has not had any vetting at all.  At the very least he needs combo testing and shots.  Terry capstarred him and put revolution on him several weeks ago right after he was trapped.  He more than likely needs strongid too for worms.  My address is 1815 Crossbridge Drive Monroe, NC 28112.

Melissa,

I am so sorry to read this.   I knew the amount of work Terry puts into the organization,  but did not realize how much time, effort and money you are contributing, for the love of these cats!

I truly hope and pray that you and Terry can work this out, so that you can continue the important work that you do for FURR.

Lori

Cindy and Melissa,
Thankfully FURR has dedicated ladies like you -willing to make the extra effort.  I will gladly donate $50 to help with vetting.  Melissa- I'm on vacation right now but what is the situation with the female whose eyes were so bad ?

Hi guys,

Please remember that FURR has NO problem taking in ANY cat or kitten as long as there are 2 things provided that we are currently out of:

1) Space - foster home
2) Funding

There is, and never has been, a problem taking in this kitten under FURR, but i cannot pay any more $$$ out of my personal funds to keep FURR going due to the tremendous amt of cats we have, nor can i continue to take in ferals when i barely have time for the ones i have now.

If you guys are going to pull together & fund & foster this kitten, please do it through FURR.

Cindy, pls give me a call so we can go over how this works (like the litter you guys rescued when i was on vacation!)

Thanks!
Terry

Dear Furrbies

It's clear that one thing we really need is more volunteers!  If we all pull together and carpet bomb the area, that might get things moving!  To that end, I have created a flyer and ask that we all commit to post at least one on a community board in a local business, library etc.  If you're a coffee junky like me,  Starbucks is a great target!

I'm attaching the flyer, so you can print it off.  However, it has an awful lot of color on it, so I'll put some in the Lodge for you to pick up.  Greg, let me know if you want me to mail some for you to give the PetSmart folks.

If we increase the volunteer base, that also gives us more prospective foster parents and donators too!

Thanks!!
