Caterham Diwali meet on Nov 16.

Greetings,

Hope all are doing well.

For last few weeks we have been talking about Caterham Diwali get-together and this email is to confirm that we are having one on Friday November 16th and the venue is our home (22999).  Plan is to eat good food, play some games, and fireworks.  We all need to decide on food - Potluck vs. Catering.  Considering November 16th is a working day, I, Pavan, and Srini P are leaning towards ordering food.  However, we would like ladies to make the decision.

I and Srini P are planning to drive to PA border next weekend to buy Fireworks.  We would request Gopi and Sruthi to take lead on the entertainment for kids.

I hope, I got all Caterham residents on the distribution.  PLEASE let me know if I miss anyone.  Most importantly, please confirm if you can attend the event or not.   Looking forward for a great food and fun event.

Looks like there are 2 parties being planned, one at the clubhouse for Addlestone and Caterham and an offshoot here (with rest of Caterham) for the same evening. We have committed to the party at the clubhouse.

Not sure what happened here, but we will need to make sure we coordinate this better next year, to include everyone in Caterham and Addlestone.

But, it doesn't hurt to enjoy the spirit of Diwali anywhere! Have fun!

You are right but few people are not at all interested in the party that was done in Clubhouse. Too many people and it more or less going and eating rather than real joy (I am sure it is all relative) ( well keep this point within caterham :-) ). The date of Nov 16th was chosen not to overlap with Nov 17th party at clubhouse which we were sure some are already committed to go there. Also because of prior engagements few are not able to go as well.

Doing the party within Caterham is more closed group we have more fun doing this way like we had the successful street party and even the last years Diwali party.

Also the idea of giving the voting choice to everyone on preference of whether to cook or order is keeping in mind some people are already spending $100 bucks for the other party which may feel little burden to spend more for another party.

Regarding food everyone can be open up on what you would prefer.

1. Order the food

2. Potluck

3. Potluck who ever can. If they cant they can pool up and order food

We are in for the party.

we vote for ordering the food, because we have to come home and cook is not going to work for us.  

Myself and Sruthi will try to find something for the kids to be entertained.

CaterhamDrive Google group has all the people, from the street. I am sure we are not missing anyone. If we dont get response in next few days, we will pass this info to the Ladies emails.

Girish, Anji, Mohammed, can you please confirm. The party is not overlapping with the other party date at the clubhouse.

Also can you everyone confirm on who has Fireworks that they can bring. This can avoid making a trip for Ramana to get them from another state. I have some.

Regarding the food, some of them are very clear that they would prefer only Cater. Some said either way is fine. So we need to make final decision on what should be the approach.

Sorry for the delayed response. Hope you all understand that we are adjusting with the new baby arrival.

 

We may not attend entire family becuase of new baby but surely will join the party. Anything Potluck or Catering works for us, Catering may be a better choice for us. Let us know our contribution in any ways.

We changed our preference from catering to potluck due to renewed interest to cook for festival. I have updated the sheet with our preference and items. If others who are waiting for catering help let me know I can help with the order. I was originally thinking of ordering indo Chinese appetizer and main course items from Masala Oak as they have ready to order trays.
