Dear Tamil Catholic Friends,
We have a rare opportunity to see the Pope on Wednesday, September 23, in the morning in Washington DC.
I am planning to join this location, even though I will be concelebrating the Papal Mass at 4.15 PM at the Basilica grounds.
Please click the link and pay attention to b there ahead of time to get closer to the event site, and to avoid things that can not be brought.
On Wednesday morning, September 23rd after leaving The White House, Pope Francis will travel along 15th Street, Constitution Avenue and 17th Street, NW in the Popemobile. People wishing to see the pontiff are invited to line the streets around the Ellipse and the National Mall as he drives by in the Popemobile.
The parade will begin around 11:00 a.m. and is free and open to the public on a first-come first-serve basis. However, spectators will need to pass through security, with gates opening for the Ellipse and the National Mall at 4:00 a.m. on September 23 and closing at 10:00 a.m. No one will be admitted into the area after that point in time. No food or drink may be brought in from the outside, but concessions will be available for purchase. Once inside the perimeter, attendees will not be allowed to leave and re-enter until the Holy Father’s Popemobile parade is complete.
There are multiple entrances to the viewing area, including:
  • East of the Ellipse on Constitution Avenue
  • West of the Ellipse on Constitution Avenue
  • East of the Washington Monument near Jefferson Drive and 15th Streets, NW
  • West of the Washington Monument near 17th Street, NW
The following is the technical schedule for the Parade:
4:00 AM—Security opens at the Ellipse and the National Mall
6:00 AM—Morning Masses begin at eight churches near the National Mall
10:00 AM—Security closes at the Ellipse and the National Mall
11:00 – 12:00 (Approximate) —Parade
12:00 PM –  Post-parade continuous coverage of Pope Francis begins
4:15 PM—Papal Mass live-stream is scheduled to begin on the National Mall
