Hello Catalyst!
I want to organize a student protest concerning the lack of Studio Art
intermediate classes (drawing, sculpture, painting) in the 2011 Fall
Quarter. Because of this cut, many students who have only taken basic
courses have petitioned for advanced courses. That is to say, as students
majoring in Studio Art, we will not only have to make this big jump from
beginner to advanced level but also have less time to practice and develop
the proper skills we need. We did NOT pay for our education for the
faculty to cut out our foundational courses. The budget cut is no excuse
for deducting the quality of our education!
Bring your posters and signs and be ready for the march!
--- Time and location have yet to be confirmed. Most likely it will be on
a Wednesday on June 1 @ noon at the bridge between the School of
Humanities and Claire Trevor. The march will start from the bridge to
Miles Coolidge's office (Miles' location has yet to confirmed as well). In
the end, we will be making complaints with Miles about this issue. My
problem is I need help from other students to organize this protest. Is
there anyone you can recommend for me to contact? ---
Thank you,
Olivia Yu
