Hi,

Last summer I made a rug for the cockpit. We used a heavyweight high end marine Berber carpet with a tough non-marking rubber non-skid on the back so it doesn't move one bit even when heeled.  No fasteners needed.  

We made it with leftover carpeting we had from a power boat re-carpeting job and it's fantastic.  The material is Corinthian Marine Aquamat Specialty Berber.  It feels so nice under bare feet and full UV/seawater safe since it's meant for boat exterior applications.  We bound the edges with Sunbrella binding and Tenara thread.  

We didn't do the area behind the wheel because we didn't have quite enough left over.

Actually, it is according to them.  The Fibers are solution dyed non-porus synthetic.  But the real question here is how could someone waste a good glass of red wine?  :-)
