Good Afternoon C355 Braintrust!

I’m getting water in my boat and I am at a loss. I’m sure there’s something obvious but I’ve been scratching my head on this for a bit.

I have hull #9, and live in Gig Harbor, WA l, not too far from Seattle. My boats on the water year around.

When I leave the boat for any time, the last thing I do before locking up is turn off unused breakers. I usually leave the door down so when I come back, I just flip them back on. The last couple of times I’ve come to the boat this winter, there is water in the door. It gathers in the area with the window and makes a nice little pool. The last time it happens I had a couple of theories but so far I haven’t been able to locate where in the heck this water is coming from.

I’ve been on travel for a couple weeks and finally made it back to the boat, and sure enough, water again.

It’s contained to this door.. no signs of water above, below, or even splashing. The electrical panel is completely dry inside and out. It’s been cold, so I wanted it to be condensation of some sort, but even that I can’t pinpoint.

Has anyone else seen anything like this. You’ll save my sanity with some insight.

Water can penetrate through the port handrails. Or through the port windows. It will drip into the ledge that holds the window shades in place. Where is leaves the ledge is chance..in your case, right above the window is my guess

The first thing I would check is the lexan/plexiglass window on the port side. My boat is hull #45 and about a year ago both port and starboard ports started coming loose and leaking. I tried to buy more time by putting silicone sealant in the areas where the ports were leaking and it was unsuccessful. Had to bite the bullet and have someone remove the ports and put new in their place with new bedding compound. I haven’t had an issue since then and my boat/bilge is staying dry now.

If water gets behind the headliner somehow it could drip out of the hole behind the overhead light. Not sure if the light is positioned correctly to drip onto the open panel. The lights are held in by two screws. Worth removing and checking for moisture and/or stuffing a kleenex into the hole and see if it’s wet next time you go to the boat. Try placing pieces of kleenex in other likely spots to see where the water is coming from.

You might try checking the panels above and in front of the sliding companionway.  I have had the drains under them clog with dirt, pollen, etc. I use a long round brush purchased from amazon once or twice a year to keep the drains open.
