I have searched the 355 chat group index and have not found any mention of water makers. Surely some of my shipmates have one. The Seawater Pro looks interesting and its manufactured right down the road from me in Fort Lauderdale. I’m guessing I could install part of it under the sink or where the trash bin is. The rest in the bilge. It would be great to hear from someone who is happy with their installation. And what would be my source of raw water? I have an aftermarket AC with a seacock in the bilge. Can I tap into that? And how to fill my water tanks? Can I just tap into the manifold in the bilge with the three valves for the three tanks? Or is there a check valve that prevents back flow? I’m thinking the 12-volt model might be simplest, but an alternative is to buy a larger capacity (for about the same price) 110 volt and just run my Honda generator while I’m making water. Any and all advice greatly appreciated! FYI I have #101 “Blessing,” nee “Spyhop."

George,

While I don’t have a C355 anymore I happen to have a water maker on my 445 that might work for you. It is an Aqua Whisper now made by Parker. It is a DC unit that is fairly compact and makes up to 9 GPH. It runs at about 35 amps but should meet your requirements.
Given the space issue for permanent install though you may want to consider a portable unit that you can stow and then put on deck when in use.
If you are interested I can send some pics of the install once it is daylight.

Hello Lyle, so good to hear from you. I guess if you are still reading the 355 chat you must be “slumming.” I will always remember when you spotted my blue 355 at no name Harbor. Yes, I would be particularly interested in learning how you hook up the raw water intake and the treated water connection to the water tanks. I am willing to consider all options. Best regards from George.

G’Day George,

It was great to see you at No Name. We had chatted a couple of times but that was our first, albeit brief meeting.
I have a dedicated through hull charcoal filters. There is also a LP pump for fresh water rinses of the unit. It is plumbed into one of the water tanks and has a separate T to the galley faucet to test the water. All in all depending on your needs it might make sense for a portable unit that you can stow in the lazarette when not using. Mine takes up space but I have a little more hinder our storage capacity too much.
Hope to see you on the water. We are currently in Charleston heading up to the Chesapeake Bay for the summer.
Best,
Lyle
