To my surprise, the 355 has 3 separate water tanks but no gauge to determine water levels. Had these installed. One guage measures 2 separate tanks, the other 1. In case there is an interest to do so on your boats....

Ahoy,

My very low-tech water tank gauge is a sticky note on the chart table.  Three columns.  Forward, Center, Aft.  Under each column is either Full, In Use or Empty.  Works great!

Bill, great it works for you. Sometimes the simplest approach is the best one. I appreciate the sticky notes but……wanted a a little bit more tech😎.
P.S. I keep all 3 tank valves open.

Nice gauges!
I’ve not heard of a lot of sailors keeping all potable water valves open at once. That’s undoing the most reliable “gauge” of all; running dry. By cycling one tank valve at a time, we’ll always have a zero tech method of knowing, at a minimum, what’s left. Don’t get me wrong, I like tech and might consider these tank monitor aids. But I won’t ever keep all 3 valves open and rely solely on the monitors. Captains of the boats I work on would keelhaul me if I did this. They want to know for certain what we have on hand and rarely completely trust their gauges.

To keep the all the plumbing routinely in use and water fresh(er), I rotate through each tank sequentially as one runs empty. Redundancy, especially when convenient, should always be pursued in my mind, but as always, to each his own Sir.

Fair winds!

Related, I don’t rely on my fuel gauge.  It registers as Full when there is only 10-12 gallons remaining and the tank holds 30.   Using Excel, I add the fuel used on my Yanmar 3YM30 29 HP at 0.75 gallons/hour assumed running at 2500 RPM, and fuel used on my Panda 4 kw at 0.33 gallons/hour.  It turns out to be pretty close but slightly on the conservative side when I refuel.  It provides a good measure of peace of mind.
