FYI,

Our 2011's propane tank certification expired this spring. Some local propane companies will recertify the tanks on the spot for a small fee and then refill them.

In our case, Simard Gas & Oil in Haverhill, MA charged $8.00 to recertify for (I think) 5 years.

So, when your tank expires, just call around to local propane and fuel oil companies and ask if they'll recertify small propane tanks with OPD valves.Ā  You'll usually not be able to do this at the hardware store or the usual gas grill tank refiller places...

I was in and out of there in about the same time it takes to just fill a tank.

I thought I'd throw this out there because I know of someone who just spent $350 from CatalinaDirect and waited 2 months to get a new tank delivered because theirs was out of date.Ā

If you can’t find a propane dealer who does it, try an industrial gas supplier - like welding gases, helium, etc., as they sometimes will.

I had mine recertified at Maine Oxy. Cost $25 which included a fill. It wasn't while you wait though.Ā
