NERT Advanced HCT Training: Buttons, Knobs, and HAM Messaging, Thursday,
November 20th, 6:30-9:30 p.m., SFFD Division of Training, 2310 Folsom @ 19th
Street.
This hands-on class is for FCC-licensed NERT Ham operators who have taken the HCT 101 class, but want to learn more about their radios, and get experience with radio messaging. Prerequisites: You must have an FCC license and have completed HCT101, or have approval from Bob Jacklevich to take this class. You also must bring your own radio equipment. NERT Ham Communications 101, Saturday, November 22, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., SFFD Division of Training, 2310 Folsom @ 19th Street.
You got your FCC amateur radio license, now what? Learn about amateur radio communication, the types of equipment available, and how to conduct ham radio operations as a NERT during a disaster at this one-day training. NERT extends a special invitation to Neighborhood Coordinators and other team members, FCC-licensed or not, to attend the afternoon session of this class from 1-4 p.m. All NERT members need to understand how and when we communicate with our Emergency District Coordination Centers. DECEMBER
Staging Area Set Up and Communications Drill, Saturday, Dec. 6th, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m, SFFD Division of Training, 2310 Folsom @ 19th Street.
Practice setting up a staging area, prioritizing incidents, and communicating with the Emergency District Coordination Center. All NERT team members will benefit from this exercise. Please join us, and learn more about what you will need to know to be safe and effective in responding to a disaster in your neighborhood.
