Dear Fellow NERTs:
This is a reminder of the next Castro NERT meeting, Monday, September 14, 2009, at 07:00PM, at the Zephyr Realty Meeting Room (4200 17th Street).
Agenda items include:
· Discussion Topic: Upcoming SFFD NERT Fall Drill events – We will discuss the planning for events surrounding the 20th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake:
1. Fall Drill – Marina Green (city-wide drill), Saturday, October 17.
2. California ShakeOut – CA state-wide activities.
3. The Big Rumble – Bay Area events and activities.
4. Marina Earthquake Memorial – monument located on Marina Green, dedication scheduled for October 17, 2009.
· Training: ICS and Radio Communications – we need to continue developing our individual and team skills for group organization and communications. This is also presented in anticipation of the Fall Drill (10/17), where these skills will be on display.
Upcoming events:
· Duboce Triangle NERT Meeting: Thursday, September 10, at 07;00PM, at Saint Francis Lutheran Church (152 Church Street). Agenda includes a table-top exercise on medical triage skills.
· SFFD NERT Training – Disaster operations 1: Saturday, September 12, 08:30AM-03:30PM, at the SFFD Division of Training (2310 Folsom Street, at 19th Street). Classroom training on how to set-up and respond from a NERT staging area after disaster strikes.
· SFFD NERT Drill – Staging Area Drill: Saturday, September 26, 08:30AM-01:00PM, at the SFFD Division of Training (2310 Folsom Street, at 19th Street). Set-up a staging area, initiate ICS, create a tent cover, set-up a portable generator, practice using ICS command structure, prioritize incidents, dispatch teams, communicate incidents to battalion command via ACS. NOTE: This is a drill, please dress appropriately, and prepared to work in the field (NERT helmet, NERT vest, safety clothing/equipment, NERT go-bag).
