APRIL EVENTS
NERT Citywide Drill, Saturday, April 18, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Everett Middle School, 450 Church St., parking entrance on 17th Street.
Join NERT members from all over San Francisco in refreshing NERT skills, and learning new ones. Neighborhood teams are welcome to work together -- a great way to build your team knowledge, spirit, and rapport. NOTE: This is a drill; bring your NERT helmet, ID, vest, and field gear and be ready to work safely and effectively in the field. RSVP to Erica at 415-970-2022 or sffd...@sfgov.org.
Getting to the Drill: Please consider using public transportation, a bicycle, or walking to get to the drill. If you drive, consider car pooling with other NERTs. Parking will be limited at the site - once spaces are filled, you will have to find parking on the street. Please come early (by 8:30) to have the best chance of securing a spot. Intro to Ham Communications Team (HCT) 101, Saturday, May 9th, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., SFFD DOT, 19th Street @ Folsom (enter through yard on 19th and park along back wall).
You got your FCC amateur radio license, now what? Learn about amateur radio communication, types of equipment available, and how to conduct ham radio operations as a NERT during a disaster. NERT extends a special invitation to Neighborhood Coordinators and other team members, FCC-licensed or not, to attend the afternoon session of this class from 1-4 p.m. All NERT members should understand how and when to communicate with our Emergency District Coordination Centers (EDCCs).
