The Big Rumble Kickoff & Panel Presentation at City Hall, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 3:30 - 7pm, SF City Hall North Light Court
This event is the kickoff to the week’s Big Rumble activities. The program will begin with the panel discussing advances in emergency management and infrastructure protection that have occurred since the Loma Prieta earthquake. The evening will close with a presentation reflecting on what happened in 1989. Panel participants include city officials, first responders, earthquake experts and other private sector representatives who play a role in disaster response. The panel will be moderated by Jan Yanehiro.
The Great California Shake Out Drill, Thursday, October 15, 2009, 10:15am
During the ShakeOut drill, City departments, businesses, schools and other partners will exercise the drop, cover and hold steps, as well as test aspects of their emergency plans. For more information, go to www.Shakeout.org\sanfrancisco.

A series of neighborhood events, including resource fairs and block parties, will be held throughout the City.
The Big Rumble Preparedness Fairs at 4 sites throughout the City, Saturday, October 17, 2009, 11am - 4pm
Four San Francisco neighborhood communities in partnership with City departments and the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management will set up neighborhood fairs with a preparedness theme. Held at 4 sites throughout the City:
* Marina - Marina Green between Scott and Avila
* Mission – Parque de los Ninos Unidos
* Sunset – 20th Avenue between Irving and Lincoln
* Bayview – Joseph Lee Recreation Center Plaza
Quake cottage; Fire Department equipment on display; The Rumble Preparedness Map; activities; giveaways; preparedness supply vendors; Red Cross; The San Francisco Department of Public Health and other City departments will be on hand to pass out information and answer any questions.
Marina Earthquake Monument Announcement and Closing Ceremony, Saturday, October 17, 2009 4:30 - 5:30pm, Marina Green, Marina Blvd @
Notable dignitaries and neighborhood residents are scheduled to participate in a closing ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the earthquake. Organizers will announce commencement of fundraising efforts to build a monument in honor of the San Francisco Fire Department. For more information about the memorial, go to www.mEQm.org.
