I got a letter in the US postal mail yesterday and I was surprised to see that my HOA payment is past due! The reason I am surprised because I made the payment on 12/1 last year and it was sent to 4100 State Hway 121 address.
I looked at my bank transactions and apparently bank mailed a check but mail was returned due to undeliverable. Of course, I am delinquent and no doubt about it. Don't know why mail was returned to me but it does not change the fact, payment is due. Simple, got it.
My HOA due as per letter is $873.15, increased by $13.15 (interest). I went to HOA office to make payment. First, they would not credit interest even after I showed the written letter from my bank.
Well, you have to pay HOA like you do pay your taxes. I was going to write a check for the amount that was stated in the letter I received yesterday but more surprise popped up!
HOA demands $880.15. I asked where this extra amount coming from? They said I would be receiving another certified letter in the mail and you have to pay for it too! I am having to pay for something I don't have or for the service never delivered!
HOA is extremely powerful and they can take your house. I paid whatever they demanded and left. It was not an experience I was expecting from HOA as they are formed to serve their residents.
Thought I would share with you and hope you wouldn't have to go through same experience.
Thanks,
Prodip
