Google Cast SDK release - September 4, 2024

Hello Google Cast developers!

Updates to the Google Cast SDK have been released for the following SDK libraries:

- CAF Receiver
- MPL

The full rollout will take a few weeks as we monitor performance and slowly ramp up the new version.

For any Web Receiver applications streaming HLS content we recommend looking into migrating to Shaka Player for playback. The current player (MPL) will no longer adopt feature updates. As a result, the Cast Web Receiver SDK has increased support for HLS playback using Shaka Player on cast device targets and has introduced an opt-in flag to enable it. Refer to the Shaka Player migration guide for more information and implementation details.
